Im having a really hard time sharpening my delica. I used the crap out of it since i got it and it became a little bit dull, so i decided it would be about time to touch it up on the sharp maker on the 40" setting. When i was done it was sharp but not shaving sharp, but when i took a closer look at the blade on one bevel it was completely uniform, but on the other i could see the micro bevel clearly. I thought that it would be a good idea to sharpen it on the 30" to get the back bevel right on both sides so now it is even but it still wont get hair popping sharp, and when i cut paper it sometimes cuts perfectly but then on other times it snags and rips instead of cutting. I honestly do not know what to do and im thinking of having it sharpened at a gun show that is gonna be going on this weekend. The thing is i do not have this problem at all on by griptilian with 154cm, this thing sharpens up perfectly. Is it just vg-10? Iv'e been wanting to buy a spyderco persian and para 2, but this is just making me think it would be this hard to sharpen anything spyderco? I know that sounds stupid because the para has way different steels and they are different knives all together, but it's just a thought. Anyone else have a hard time? I seriously pondering buying a edge pro apex to just reprofile it and future knives.

Just work at it more. Your bevels probably aren't meeting right at the edge. Reprofiling on a sharpmaker can be a pain (see: time consuming) especially without the diamond stones, so an edge pro wouldn't be a bad investment, but neither are the diamond stones.

Ya im thinking about getting the diamond rods but i am a cheap ass and i overthink my purchases way too much.

I'd suggest buying the Edge Pro Apex regardless. The Sharpmaker with the diamond rods is a poor substitute when reprofiling, repairing, or creating relief grinds. I have both, so I'm speaking from experience. I got so tired of trying to match bevels and spending hours with the SM, I rarely use it anymore. You can do touchups with the EP buy using the magic marker trick. I think it's quicker than the SM.. The Wicked Edge is a viable alternative- see the thread from this week in sharpening, tinkering, and embellishing forum here. I'd honestly recommend saving money by buying what you are eventually going to buy. Let us know what you decide!
