Hey all. I'm preparing to strip the blade coating from my BK12. I've already etched the logos, so hopefully they'll remain once the coating is gone. Any tips on removing the coating? I think I'm going to let the blade patina naturally . If you have any pictures of a stripped BK12, post 'em up. Any BK12 photos are welcome in fact.

thx

Here's mine now:

Here's mine fresh outta the stripper (after electro-etching it) flanked by a Machax and an 11 mod:

I can't find a current one. I think I need to take some more pics of that one.

That's pretty cool, I'd honestly never noticed a stripped BK12 before now. I use KleanStrip, the gel version, works pretty well. I leave it on for about 20 minutes then use a plastic scraper to remove the coating. Wear good chemical resistant gloves and a respirator (if inside).

Sounds good. I've got the Micarta handles already. I've got a gel paint stripper so we'll see how it goes.

Thanks for the replies:D

Stripping as we speak (my knife). Coating came right off and the logos look good. Doing another round to get the stubborn bits.

Looks good.. I'm about to do mine any day now. Just need Alan wrenches to take off the handles first. I did mg bk14 two days ago and turned out awesome.. Can't wait to do my bk12. I used Jasco stripper and still have some left. I learned my skin is pretty tolerant to the stuff... Got some on my hand and it just felt like gas really. Didn't bother me at all.. Tho I do advise to wear gloves

Nice. Looking real good! The 12 has a great finish on it under the coating. I think they stone wash it.

Here is mine back when I stripped it.
