Anyone ever buff the blue off their sebenzas?

As you might guess from the title, I'm slowly starting to get past the sheer awesome newness of my sebenza and making it my own. I ordered a new lanyard setup yesterday, today I finally took it to my stones just a little, and now I'm considering buffing the blue anodization off. There is nothing wrong with it, but the plain silver is more my style. Has anyone done this? Is it a pain? any tips? Thanks again for all the help yall!

Haven't done it but have seen several here mention having the lugs replaced by CRK with silver lugs.

I have sent in a couple of Regs to get all new silver hardware installed. It's fairly inexpensive and I prefer the silver as well. I have never buffed the blue off, but have seen some posts with it done and it looks nearly identical to the new silver in my opinion.

I've done it.

I taped up the blade around the thumb stud then used a Dremel to lightly polish the thumb stud back to silver.
It doesnt take much polishing so dont go over board with the dremel.
You don't even really need polishing compound. I used it tho just to make things go a little faster.

The hardiest part is polishing the stud without polishing the blade. So use tape!

The back spacer is a breeze because you can remove it.

Mine turned out great and it didn't cost me a dime either.

That was sort of my thoughts. I think it might look a little better, and I don't think doing it would be an issue at all. I'll wait and see what I think once I tie on my new lanyard, but I'm definitely leaning towards doing exactly that. I don't dislike the blue enough that I'd pay for something different, but if I could do it for free I think I may.

I did mine. Good advice about taping the blade. I just used some polish on a rag. Didn't need the dremel. Looks as good as my Starbenza's silver stud.

I like the blue...I wish it didnt wear off so quickly. Just use it and it will go away, mine was half gone in a week.

A dremel, polishing disc and some polish works wonders! It'll take you a good 15 minutes including (dis)assembly of your sebbie!!

Good luck

I just buffed the blue off of the thumbstuds on my Sebenza 25 this morning. I carefully taped off the surrounding area. Then I used Emery buffing compound (that would normally be used on a buffing wheel) on a shop rag to remove the blue anodization. After the blue was gone i used Mothers Metal polish on a rag to shine them up and voila! Ten minutes later here she is.

Use some painters edging tape and a single hole punch.
The hole fits perfectly around the thumbstud on a large 21!
