Anyone ever do a partial strip?

Just curious if anyone has done a partial strip on any of the saber ground Beckers, leaving the flat coated and stripping the bevels. If so, how hard was it to maintain the consistent line so it would look nice?

I think it would look pretty cool. If you have tried it, make sure to post pics!

I've not done stripped at the grind line before, would kinda remind one of a two-tone pistol. I have stripped to the scales or the plunge line, masking tape or electrical tape work best to mask off what you want to stay coated. As to the quality of it, it's all about your taping skills and whether or not you expose the remaining coating to abrasion.

It's been done, it looks GOOD.
The finish on the flats does wear eventually, though.

Try sanding or a razor. I know for a fact Jasco will seep under the edges of painters tape. Maybe a Combo of strip, then scrape the edge for precision. I've stripped several with just a blade and steel wool. If held flat the razor blade won't leave any marks. If you get a corner up then the other will scratch but not deep and easily scoured away. Follow the grind lines on the bevel and no scratches will even be noticed. It wears on the fingers a bit but really it's easy to do and has great results.
Of course, later on I found my scraper that holds the razor and haven't stripped anything since, so this may work even better.

I did just that to my bk2. I sanded it, worked out fine.

You might be able do it with careful application of stripper and a razor blade you might be able to do the same thing.

I did a partial strip on my 9, came out looking pretty good imo.. It doesn't get a lot of use, but it has held up well so far.
I used a flat razor and it was the old coating, not sure how well it would work on the new coating.

Here are some old pics..
