If the swing guard is what caught your attention and you want to try it out on the cheap, Rough Rider does make a lockback with one just type in "rough rider swing guard" and it pop right up on the results.
As for me I don't own either, but I've been debating on picking up the Copperlock for awhile now. The Case Cheetah doesn't interest me for the same reason as mentioned above with how it may interfere with certain grips due to the swing guard.
I was mostly wondering because of that swing guard. It's a bit reminiscent to me of some old switchblades. It looks good, but also seems like it would be uncomfortable during use, especially for the thumb.
I had a Queen swing guard a couple of years ago, and I think you're right, the guard sticking up DID get in the way, and the pattern, which is shaped and sized similiarly to the Case Cheetah pattern, is overall very long with a long blade. I traded it off.
I'd carry one, if needed. The swing guard would be an interesting conversation item for sure. The pattern overall tends to be longer than I prefer for carrying, but the Cheetah is such a slender and light version that it wouldn't be uncomfortable at all.
I carried a Cheetah when I was 18 years old, 43 years ago It was my back up knife because back then we all carried a Buck 110. I remember using the Cheetah like a steak knife on camp outs. It held up pretty good for a couple years then the wheels fell off. One of yhe guards broke off so I had to remove the other. I guess the answer is buy the Copperlock because if you really use the Cheetah you will end up with a Copperlock once the guards get wacked off.
