Anyone ever have a 1960-70's era Hoffritz DE safety razor?

I purchased a DE safety razor from the Hoffritz store (Hoffritz Brand) in the NYNY Port Authority Building in 1969. It was very elegant and came in a silver metal case for the razor and some blades. Had it for many years and then I switched to electrics--have been using disposable blades since the 80's and am going back to a DE. I see that the sucessor to Hoffritz now sells Merkur DE.

Anyone have one of those old Hoffritz brand razors and how do you think they compare to the Merkurs of today? Also anyone know where I could get a metal case like the one my Hoffritz came in?

Thank You All. Great source of information

Those old Hoffritz razors were actually made by Merkur, although to a higher standard, and many are still available today at antique shops, flea markets and on eBay. They are fantastic razors!
