ever since watching the geico ads i want a pet geiko. Does anyone have one? what are they like? what do they eat, what should i look out for? Thanks guys.

I think you mean Gecko. I'm pretty sure they eat bugs like most other lizards do. I cant comment on any of the other inquiries you asked about. I do think that they could lower their rates by not spending money on a CGI lizard that has nothing to do with insurance. Oh wait, this isnt W&C

Have a female albino leopard gecko. She, Scottie, lives in a desert environ 75 gallon terrarium. Bought a professional grade hood for lighting - daylight UV flourescent, IR heat spot lamp for basking, and IR moon light for night. She goes for the medium crickets from Petsmart with tail-waggin' abandon and it's fascinating to watch her stalk them. She also eats the canned mealworms you can store in the fridge. Takes a few minutes for the worms to wake up and start moving but when they do she is on 'em like a duck on a June bug. She has a shallow water dish that she drinks from and lays in when shedding.

The crickets require their own cage and care - mostly Flukers Cricket Quench and orange food that's been vitamin and calcium enriched.

Leopard geckoes are arguably the easiest herps to care for. They will select and use a small area of their environment to due their business and live fairly long with minimal care. What you want to stay away from are the Tokay Geckoes. Even if their "Phuck-you" cry brings back pleasant memories of Thailand they remain foul tempered obstinate freakin' little bastages who demand larger and more lively food and will rip your fingers off if you don't give it to them.....NOW!!!

severtecher's site is chock full of info. Good luck with whatever herp you choose. :D

Hehehehehehehehe Every time I think of geckos I think of that pathetic little bastard of a tokay gecko that I had. They are great. Mean as hell, but their bites don't hurt, okay don't hurt much, and they hiss. Really pretty fun pets.

No need to have them as pets here. They're all over the freaking place.

When we were undergrad biology students a friend had two Tokay geckos named Little Nasty and Big Nasty. They ate crickets and their names are appropriate to their demeanor. Pretty cool.

No kidding; I have 3 that live on my front porch.

Call the Insurance Commision and report the little bastids. You have a right to be free from geico harrassment!!

:D

I want a stuffed one with the shower cap and towel, we can't have them on campus property.
