Anyone ever hear of RBH Custom Knives ???

Hmm,they look nice but I am far from any sort of an expert.

His website claims he is out of Key West ,Florida yet on flea bay all the knives are listed as being located in Rhode Island?

Also his feedback is strange.

It is VERY interesting to see what RBH has currently on ebay. MANY Randall patterns and EVERY knife has bids, but most WELL under $100.

As mentioned, the feedback total seemed out of sync with recent activity. Total feedback is over 3700 with 100% Positive rating. When I looked as far back as possible, the older feedback was generated mostly selling production knives.

In the last year, only 197 "positives" and 9 "neutral".

While in the pictures the knives look good, this was the worst of the 9 "neutral" feedbacks:

"A INSULT TO RANDALL KNIVES, INVEST YOUR MONEY WISELY, BUY A REAL RANDALL"

He talks about Key West in his bio on the website, but the address in ebay is Block Island, RI???

The same question was posed on another forum some time ago...and after a number of members contacted him regarding the knives and origin of manufacture they received the same auto response..that the knives are made in Rhode Isl. and no further details...the gentleman even posted on the forum after the inquires and his answers were vague and aloof..

Me thinks ~shill bidding for starters ,since EVERY knife listed has almost identical amounts bid etc., and ,either he commutes between R.I. and Key West or these are Asian, with his "makers mark" being imported through R.I. and drop shipped. What a theory! How cynical I have become.
Also make note of how many feedbacks ar being generated by the same buyers? They are still nice looking knives. Someone should take one for the team and buy one for review.

Here' s my take. I just bought one of these knives from him on eBay, it just showed up in the mail. It looked really good in the pics but there's nothing special here.. He INFERS that he hand makes them but it is VERY obvious to me (especially when comparing it to one of my good knives like a Randall) that these are mass produced overseas. Why won't people just come out and say the truth? IT's still worth around what I paid for it? Why the deception?? The fit and finish is pretty crappy but the steel blade looks fairly decent and pretty well made. I spent a hundred bucks for it and I feel like I almost got what I paid for. I don't feel ripped off, but I do feel deceived. NOTE: The workmanship looks middle eastern to me like Turkey or nearby. Not factory looking enough to be asian, if that makes sense... It came with a decent sheath. I'm gonna use it.

I was just looking at these,as they were mixed with Randalls on image Google search, don't know what to think of these? They seem pretty decent on pictures, but in reality?- I know this is old thread, but any new feedback here please? Anyone have real experience and ordered blades from Rbh? Checked the website and surprisingly a lot of designs are nearly 100% Randalls, but half the price of course...

I was also trying to find out, but couldn't single information on Rbh website on how the knives are made and what steel maker using, steel grade is not introduced even along the products..... Any feedback?

Sorry guys,I only didn't want to start a new thread on subject, that is allready existing here, that's why....

So anybody here in any chance bought knife from RBH and have any experience to share please?I found out on EBay they are made of 1095 carbon steel, but no words on construction, neither process they are being made...

I have purchased two of his Bowies based on the description and pictures. I will have them in about one week, maybe sooner, and will report back with my review. They look fantastic in the pics on Ebay but one never knows. I understand from the seller that it takes him about 6 months to make a collection of knives for sale so when the current ones listed are gone there won't be anymore for the 6 months. If these really are handmade knives he is not making any money on them as far as I can tell.

From another forum:

I have to give you bad news. Henn is a fraud. I bought a couple of his knives from him on eBay. They came to me DIRECTLLY from Pakistan. When I gave him him negative feedback, he called me and offered to return my money if I withdrew my feedback. I refused and changed his username. As to his rationalization about calling his knives "Made in USA" he said that he "imports" material to Pakistan. When I pressed him he admitted that the only thing imported was his designs (which he copies Randall). Like I said, a fraud.

Many comments on shill bidding.

And this guy is still pushing his "custom" "USA" knives on ePrey.

What's your overall impression from bowies you got please? These knives ain't coming cheap at all, I loved one which reminiscent of Raymond Thorpe design of RMK, Stag handle, but the blade on RBHs blade is noticeably wider than R.Thorpe of Randall design.Cost of this rbh large Bowie is between 300-400 bucks which ain't cheap at all. I do not have prejudice against country of origin, as Quality control play only role, not the country of making, but if knives are made in country where labour is number of times cheaper, than this should also be reflected on final price (as an example could be Nepal, where very skilled blacksmiths - kamis can make an excellent outstanding blade out of high quality steel by forging knife for couple of days and it's price could be as low as below 100 bucks...

So here's my approach.

You cannot see heat treatment, You cannot see what steel is used to make a knife. You rely on the skill and integrity of the maker.

What's your integrity rating on someone who lies about the source of the knife?

Do you feel lucky?

Taking this out of Custom & Handmade and closing it.
Worst kind of a thread to necro, no hard information.
