anyone ever heard of this sak mod?

I recently bought a lot of used small victorinox tinkers to rehandle for Christmas presents. One of them has an interesting mod. The Phillips driver has a thin cut made from the tip to the depth of the tip in such a way that it does not effect the use of the driver really. It must have been super difficult to do. And I'm having trouble photographing it. Has anyone heard of this or know what it might be for?

It's a can key for the old-style cans that had a metal tear strip around the edge of the can. It's not a mod, it's factory. Probably indicates that the one with the slot is the oldest.
