I was having Mikkel willumsen build me a large folder actually a Blondie. I have alot of scrap stainless steel out back in the yard, so I thought I would use that as scrap metal and cash it out to get knife funds. well long story short I didnt realise that stainless prices have dropped drastically, they went down from around 90 cents per pound to 12 cents per pound. My scrap only brought me 292 bucks....I was expecting alot more. Anyways I wanted to here some stories where you didnt get what you want lol.

lack of funds have been preventing me from getting a sebbie for years but hopefully xmas and a job will change that.

I finally got my first Sebbie recently. I buy a lot of knives but if I bought fewer knives I'd have more money for more expensive knives. does that make sense? I have my eye on a 20 ga. Browning Superposed but always spend my money else where. One of these days it will be gone.

One day I was with the wife at an antique show and there was a big Arkansas toothpick made by some guy as famous as Bo Randall; same era, I forget his name. It was 900 bucks - she said no.

absolutely, gas has about been cut in half but ive been driving(to see the gf) about 4x as much.... plus my mutual funds have sucked just as much as everyone else so a sebenza is prolly still wishful thinking :(

I have one retirement fund that is fixed and it just comes. One retirement that is tied with the stock market I will never touch till I am in Dire Straights. Social Security will go to my vodka and wine fund. One of these days I will go on a walkabout and see what is out there. Screw it.

I missed out on a Lochsa while waiting for funds to arrive in my paypal account from a sale I made. I missed it by two days. I'm sure when one comes available again I will not have the funds for it...and the vicious cycle continues.

I have a kid in college and am saving for retirement.

I am always broke.

Are you saying that you actually commissioned him to build a knife you couldn't pay for, then backed out when your plan to sell the scrap stainless backfired?

No just had a quote and beginnings of an idea of what I wanted. I would never ever start a project that I couldnt pay for. Thats why I got a quote and told him to hold off on the build/design till I get funds. We had just begun talking about a build.

Never lost a knife, but almost lost a wife.

(too many knives, too few funds)

I haven't lost out on a knife due to a lack of funds, but I have made myself live on beans and no luxuries for a month or two to get the funds saved up to get what I wanted. Looking at doing the same again over a few months for my next one.

All the time my friend.Lack of funds has been keeping me from getting a (desperately wanted) Busse & Sebenza, along with a lot of others.

I have seen several knives I would like to buy but I am currently tying up funds with a new AR build and just took delivery of about $1300.00 bucks in .308 and 30 carbine ammo. So yes...funds for knives has dried up a bit currently, I still need to add a couple cases of .223 to the stash as well.

I'm currently selling off my whole knife collection due to no work and too little funds for too long...:(

Not quite the same thing as what you're asking, but it is 80+ knives I've lost out on due to too little funds...

Most of my collection is about gone...the saving grace is that without it to fall back on my son and I would be out on the street by now...

Ray :)

That is an excellent way to go about it, and not always true of buyers. I've got a couple I'd like to place orders for, but can't responsibly allocate the funds for right now(fancy way of saying my overtime got cut out, and I'm broke!), myself.

Happens to me every time I go to a knife show, no matter how much I have saved up (or not saved up.) :D.

Lol going to bladeforums is almost a tease now because Im living off no lunch just supper for this knife haha. I cant get anything else I wanted either. Glad I got my first post cleared up, i could see where someone would think I just didnt pay or something. I would rather sell a kidney than to stiff someone of their deserved money.

Whats a good kidney bring these days ??
I found a nice Chamblin slip joint I would really like to have.

Considering I don't a knife collection that consists of 10,000 knives, yep, I've lost a knife due to lack of funds.

Like many, I'd love to have more but I am pretty good at being responsible with my purchases (ie tightwad, cheaparse, cheapstake, etc).
