I saw this on ebay. I think it is pretty darn cool. Just curious if any makers ever make them like this?

Yes, many in the Society for Creative Anachronisms(SCA) turn out war hammers, along with most other types of weapons used back then. I don't think it would pose a problems to any good smith today.
 
Wow, neat old weapon! Could you imagine going into battle with that thing. I sure would hate to be on the receiving end of it.
 
I think I recognise the handle from when I was a youngster operating a jack hammer on a high wall (it felt like it was running me). It is, I think, drill steel and it looks capped by a ground down rock bit.

Nice looking work.
