Anyone ever ordered from Kazak ?

Talking with Kazak/Poland about purchasing a sharpening system straight from them (Kazak Pro Black).

In our conversation he says "You need to call border or on the website and read information. Goods that cost more than $1000 from certain states must pay $100. But in California, there is no tax so you would not pay the $100, I am not sure about your state Alabama"

I'm sure he's talking about customs. So how to they rate what I have to pay ? Is it by the weight and size of the package or how much it's value is ? Has anyone every ordered from them and can you share how much it was ?

I've searched my paperwork a couple of times, but I see absolutely nothing referring to customs costs OR taxes.
My purchase was just over $900 and the shipping was a flat fee (which was modified once due to miscalculation). My purchase was itemized and everything added up perfectly.
 
So I did some diggin on the interweb and made some phone calls too. Looks like customs is going to charge according to where it comes from, what it is and it's total value. Getting a round figure seems impossible so I called Gritomatic to see if they could help me figure this out and maybe ball park it so I don't get myself in trouble $$.
Gritomatic said they have had several people call them about this because the "phone call from customs" stating how much they owe was more than the sharpener costs. I talked to a lady, not Chris or Konstantin, they are not in the office today. She said that most folks wind up canceling their order and try to get their money back.
She did tell me that they still have no idea when they will get them in but the order was placed last year. Told me to call back and talk to Chris.

What state you in Polish ?
 
Last year I purchased an approximately $2k item from the UK and was told that I should expect to pay an import duty of something over $100. About 3 weeks after the package was delivered by UPS, I received a $118 bill/invoice from them (UPS) to cover this charge.
