I was looking at the boots, are they comfortable; do you like them; would you buy them again?

They are very comfortable. I've worn them for years. I currently have 3 pairs. Black boots that are 5+ years old. Black and brown shoes about a year old.

I agree. I've had a pair for 5 or 6 years and while I don't wear them all the time I find them to be very comfortable.

Saw a show on TV about Doc Martins that stated they were among the best boots ever made but suffer an image problem among the general population due to their association with punks and skinheads who were among the first to twig onto them....maybe for the wrong reasons.Bottom line....good boots.

I had a pair about 10 years ago, and loved them. Very comfy, liked the way they looked. Only real problem I had with them was that at the time I rode a motorcycle as daily transportation, and after they got wet a few times they started to stink like a funky mildewy towel. This was so bad that people sitting 5 feet away could smell them. I was also told at the time that I couldn't get them resoled because of the weird way that the company attached the sole, but since they stank so bad anyway, I just gave up on them. The re-soling thing might be hogwash, so ask around if that would dissuade you from buying.

I've had several pairs. I had a pair of steel toed black lace ups that were very uncomfortable. I had another pair of cherry reds that gave me blisters. The pair of low cut browns I currently have are the best of the bunch. Bought them when I was 15 in high school, still have them and they are going strong, oh yeah, I'm 28 now!

Seems like people either like them, or they hate them.

Doc Martens boots take a little while to break in, but after that, are really comfortable. I currently own 2 pairs of black Doc Martens boots.

Exactly my experience with the same style of Doc Martens.

I'll never own them again.

I've got a pair of Doc Marten's Industrials (steel toed), mid-height boots. They are great! I rotate between my Danners and Docs as everyday shoes.

I've worn all types of Doc's and they are great quality and great value, they are also light. Even the missus has a pair. For motorcycles try the service issue jungle boots. Best Iv'e ever worn - in the summer.

I agree that they are lighter than most boots, due to the sole construction.

Keeping them oiled helps with the water resistance.

They don't breathe too well, being oiled leather. In a hot climate, I might go with another type of construction.

Alright, whats the deal with where they are currently made? I'm shopping for a pair of new boots and I'm considering Martens in spite of them being more trendy than I personally care for. However, I've heard that they are now made in china and that quality has seriously suffered. This past weekend I went to the mall and sure enough, every shoe I picked up said Made in China inside. Are they all MIC? Can you still get ones that are made in the UK? Is it that big of a deal?

Mine are less than 2 years old and they were made in the UK. I didn't know any Docs were made in China...

I've also heard that they are starting to move production to China and that the quality is suffering alot. I always thought all Danner's were made in the USA but turns out most of their stuff is made in China also :( http://www.grindersfootwear.com/xsite/X-main.html I think all of their boots are made in the UK and they are alot like Doc Martins. Might be worth looking into.

I have 2 pairs of Doc shoes and 2 pairs of boots. All 4 pairs have been extremely durable and comfortable. The oldest pair that I have are 7 years old and I still wear them almost daily.

Well, the Danners I got a few months ago were made in the USA...

Made in Thailand
Go to Costco and buy Doc Martens for $ 34.99
They have only brown but they sell fast. :D

I used to wear doc martins for work. My first two pairs were great but after a few years myself and others found the quality was deteriorating. Usually the soles split across the ball of the foot and the heal would collapse. For just everyday wear there probably ok boots, but for work wear there wouldnt last 3 months.
I think it was last year they closed the factory in ?Nottingham to move production to China with the loss of I think 300 jobs, so I wouldnt bother with them now even if they were any good.
