I have a German police Sig 225 P6 that I have had for a few years. I really like the gun with the single stack and slim profile and my wife has adopted it as her own! As with most police guns the internals are like new but it has alot of holster wear as well as a ding on the slide where it was dropped I assume. I don't want to send it out to get worked since it only cost me $250.00 so I decided to give it a go myself. Here is what I am thinking:
Fill ding in slide by welding or JB weld and filing to shape. Never done this but it seems pretty straight forward.
Get it media blasted to remove all coating and take out any scratches or machine marks.
Bake with some sort of finish, Duracoat or something similar
Polish feed ramp, barrel, and stone any rough internals
Add some nice grips.

If anyone has ever filled dings or coated any firearms I would be very happy to hear some suggestions!

First-

Don't fill in that ding! It won't help. Smooth it and then media blast and leave it alone.

Media blasting is good - try glass bead for a smooth matte finish

Duracoat or K&G Guncoat- Use baked finishes over airdry...they will be more durable....and please! Read the instructions on use!

Polish feed ramps and such before any coating and baking

G10 is a nice material for grips and they have quite a few colors and patterns.....if you want to do it yourself you might come up with some nice ones if you take your time. Material costs should be under 20 bucks...

On the ding; when steel gets "dinged" it actually creates a high sopt around the low spot, due to
the metal displaced in the low spot. Kinda like when you poke your finger in the sand. Just bring down
the high area around the ding. It will be far less noticeable.

Thanks gnarly i contacted jeff this morning!

Highly recommend you send it to our mutual friend and BLADE member Jeff 4bush for media-blast & Cerakoting, Chris.
Chris, have to second the "wise one" . . . We have 2 ESEE Izula's Jeff did for Sally in pink and with the cancer ribbon on her knives, as well as custom coating the kydex sheaths to match. He also sent her (unbeknownst to us) a custom pink letter opener he did with matching ribbons on both sides. Jeff is a great guy, & his work is top shelf here on Blade, EDCF, & on The Usual Suspect's forum.
Good luck with this, should be interesting to see the progress.
Be safe.
