Anyone ever regrind a CRK? Scandi or Flat or other grind?

Wondering if anyone has experienced or seen discussion on regrinding a CRK. Either a folder like a sebbie or one of the fixed blade hollow handles. With all the hype around scandi grinds lately, I wonder if putting one on an older hollow handle might be the bees knees. Or maybe it would completely ruin the knife?

Not sure if a regrind like that would ruin the heat treat. I imagine all collector value is lost and I doubt CRK could or would even attempt put the factory grind back and even if they did, it wouldn't be right because too much was probably removed.

Tom Krein did some Sebenza regrinds in the past. Do a search and it will give you the scoop.

Another great benefit to owning a CRK, is they will sell you a new blade and fit it for you. I would say you are free to experiment, as long as you can afford the $135.00 for a new blade if it doesn't work out.

I have a small Sebenza with a Krein regrind. Tom did a great job and it performs quite well. Would I do it again? I can't say for sure.

REK thinned out a Sebbie for me a year or two ago and it turned out excellent..

The one at the top is a regrind, bottom one is factory and both are smalls

Cool! How do you like it? Would you do it again? Easier or harder for you to resharpen? Did you ever send it back to CRK for a spa service and if so did they complain you reground it?

Both in the pic are regulars, btw
When I bought it, I really didn't know what I was buying in terms of CRK warranty. I've never sent it in, doubt I ever would because I honestly think they wouldn't touch it. Knowing what I know now, I'd never bought it, so no, I'll never own another like it.
It's a hell of a slicer, and easy to put the edge back on. A few swipes with a ceramic rod and a little stropping and it gets stupid sharp.
