Considering it. Have a Standard Issue, and the bail gets in the way of the blade closing. Curious if it is a bad idea.

Hi Applejacks, do you mean a Wenger Standard Issue?

Don't got one, but I'm trying to understand the question.

Hey what did you finally decide on your thin gentleman folder?

Exactly. Wanted to remove the bail from the Standard Issue.

I didn't get anything. I found that my collecting of knives has been somewhat futile.. scared to carry anything, and I don't really cut much either. I ended up selling most of what I owned.

I removed mine as it managed to chip the heck outta my blade. I suspect this happened when a friend used it. It's just a loop of thick wire, more or less, so you can remove it without worry.

It feels better in the hand, but it's nice to have as a lanyard attachment. I just drop mine in my pocket, so it's not an issue. The steel of the bail is fairly springy, so you should be able to snap it back in place with some pliers if you should ever need to.

Most people don't use the bail, and usually remove it sooner or later. If you don't use it it's just a nuisance.

Awesome! Thanks, thats exactly what I wanted to know. And I also just drop it in my pocket so don't need it either. Thanks again!

I just removed it. For anyone considering it, you can pull the ends apart and it pops right off. You do NOT need to cut it off.

Thanks Eojk and Cougar... worked perfectly, and I am much happier with it!

Sorry to hear that. Hope you hang around anyway. Not all of us are collectors.
