Bought a 110 auto conversion at a gunshow. No idea who's making these but it's the dual action blade and flat, oblong button. Got a correct Buck box with the knife. All signs point to the knife itself being built on an authentic Buck, date code is within the last 3 years(don't remember exactly).

The sheath, on the other hand, doesn't seem like a Buck item at all. The flap has the Buck logo, but the leather is much thinner than usual, very flimsy-and the snap is blank , no BUCK stamp. Snap is much weaker than a Buck sheath should be, and a slight bump unfastens it. I know Buck wouldn't have a non-Buck sheath, but what are the odds that the place that did the conversion was working on both Bucks and Chinese knockoffs, and got the sheaths mixed up?

It could happen I guess, got a pic of the knife ?
Who really knows how a fake sheath would end up with a basically new legit knife.

Maybe due to the aftermarket conversion they just used a different sheath. Don't let the modified knife bite you.

Answer:
Only a few hundred times.

I got a Buck 110 from the factory that had a real cheesy sheath just like you're describing. I think they got a bad shipment of goods? Anyway, I just went on their web site and ordered a different sheath and it was made in the USA!!!

At gun shows and flea markets, 110s are in a variety of sheaths, Schrade seems to be seen more than others. You also find Buck sheaths with 110 clones in them.

The sheath in that listing looks exactly like mine, and the material almost feels like a fake leather-but like I said, everything about the knife itself(other than modification) points to it being a real Buck, the knives in that listing are clearly clones/ripoffs. In any case, I have other sheaths-was just trying to satisfy curiosity.
