Anyone ever seen this interesting steel thread?

I dunno how new or old that was, but being new to knives, I sure found it informative:thumbup:

It is very informative and portions of it are reproduced on various sites. One notable exception is the beta-titanium Mission is going with, almost to the exclusion of its A2 blades. Also, some sword and knife manufacturers are using variations of Swedish powdered steel, and brittleness is not a problem. These are made with a particle metallurgy process which evens out all the various elements in the alloy (unlike other steels). Some exceptionally fine knives and swords made use these materials and process.
