Has anyone sent a knife back to Spyderco for sharpening? How long did it take? How much did it cost? I really need to send my G-10 Police PE back for sharpening, and was wondering if they will even do this.

I've sent a couple of Spydies back, only requires $5 check/money order for return shipping (via UPS) back to you. You could call Mike, at Warranty and Repair(800-525-7770), just to doublecheck.

My Native required an additional $5, for some regrinding on the serrations. The turnaround time was about 7 working days, from the time they got it until I got it back, in like new condition. :)

You won't be disappointed with the Spydie CS, they are THE BEST! :D ;)

I sent my Endura in and they figure that it had a bad lock (I never noticed, it seemed solid to me) so they replaced it with a new one.

what all will they do to it for free? . mine needs a few hair line scratches taken out and the blade needs tightning really really bad.

Spyder Punk, I'm sure that if you call Mike and explain your problems, he can give you an estimate as to what you might be charged besides the $5 for return shipping.

Good Luck

My experience with Spyderco service was
absolutely top-notch.

I had a Delica which, over several months
of deep pocket carry, had reached a point
where the blade wouldn't close or open easily;
it was basically stuck where it shouldn't be.

After many attempts to clean & lubricate it myself,
I sent it to their service department, with an
explanatory note.

It arrived back at my house 10 days later,
without service charge (!) - good as new, and
sharpened, too (shaved paper, which it didn't
do before I sent it -- I know how to get it
that sharp myself, but didn't bother before
sending it, so I know they must have
sharpened it).

I did send it registered mail, which was
approximately $10 to send. Next time, I'd
pick UPS, because I suspect it would be
cheaper. My choice, my fault.

My point is, Spyderco service is so
old-fashionedly good, it's difficult to
believe...! I got a nice note from
Keith (warranty and repair) with the knife.

It almost felt like 30 years ago again - when
you could take someone at their word.

I know they're damn good with the customer service! I've yet to see a customer service that could top it.

I sent back 10 at one time with a check for $5.00 and all 10 were sharpened and back within a week.

I recently sent my Delica that had a broken clip. For $10 I got it sharpened and the clip replaced and back in my hand in 10 days.
All I did was mail it in with a letter explaining the problem.

Great Customer Service!

I sent the Police out USPS Priority yesterday morning to Spyderco for sharpening. Thank you all for the info, and just for fun, lets see what the turn around is getting it back. Even though the Police is in my EDC rotation, and its not going to be carried until after hunting season, I miss the hell out of it.:(

Yeah, about a year ago I sent my SE
cricket to Mike Hayes with a PMO (Postal Money Order;)) for $5 ; I got the cricket back NIB sharp AND the PMO! Mike Hayes is, IMO, "the salt of the earth" ;)

Give'em a call

1-(800)-525-7770 wait for the nice machine to offer you the company directory, then enter alpha/numerically M=6 I=4 K=5 E=3

I bought a Rookie with a nasty nick in the blade that I couldn't get out so off it went to Golden. It took about 3 weeks but when it came back it was SCARY sharp, the nick was gone, and they rebrushed the steel handles. I was very impressed.
