Tried this yesterday on with some old burnishing films that I had got at a billiards supply store. Made the knife sharper if that is possible. The package I have says the films are 2,000-7,500 grit. Sure did a great job of touching up my knife. Also after use the plastic filme can be rinsed, and drid on a paper town for future use. Think the cost of these film are like 5-6 dollars.

This is just an FYI.

Never tried it, but definitely cool to know.

I have heard of people using pretty unusual objects to sharpen there Emersons, one of the charms of a single bevel and low RC hardness

Well if you need major sharpening this methoid would be discribed, as a last step, or removing of that last little bid or roughness.

WOW! I never heard of the stuff. Certainly will look into trying some. Thanks for sharing!

That's pretty interesting. I always enjoy looking for new sharpening media. I read somewhere you can use the top of a car window to touch up an edge. I'll let you know how it goes.
