Got a tanto micarta and thinking of dying the micarta darker. It's pretty light. Anyone done this? Does it rub off or stain your hand/clothes? Does it stain the Ti?

The oils from you hand will turn it near black in just hours of use. It will wash back to the original colour if it gets wet or if you wash it but the inlays will alwyas turn much darker with use.

I applied the liquid dye directly to the scales, no boiling water. Let it set for awhile rinsed it off and let it dry, did that 3 or 4 times. It did darken it up quite a bit. I didn't have any problems with it wearing off, but that's not to say it won't. It is an easy enough process if it does though.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Atony, that looks great! It defines the micarta more IMO. Mine are so light, they almost blend in with the Ti.
