I just took apart my 25 and my Startac to clean them and decided to use Sentry Solutions HI-SLIP GREASE instead of the CRK fluorinated grease. I've used it before on some of my other non- CRK knives and it works really well so I decided to try it on my CRK's to see how it does. Anyone else use other product on there pivot besides the CRK grease?

I tried Lubriplate white grease once. Didn't work near as well as the Reeve grease. The opening and closing motion wasn't nearly as smooth.

I have had a sebenza for about a month. I bought a pre-owned but in very good condition large insingo 21. One of the first things I did was take it a part to clean it. I didn't have any CRK grease (and still don't) so I just used the mil-tec that I have used on my knives for years. It's smooth but I think I will get some CRK grease soon to try it out.

I use Eureka lube, which is a lubricant for remote control hobbyists made in Australia, but available through online hobby shops in North America. I find it superior to the CRK grease in all measures and no longer bother with the CRK grease. I find it gives smoother action, longer lasting, and does not dry out or separate like the CRK grease does. I switch back to the CRK grease sometimes as I am a fan of the brand, but end up back with the Eureka lube. Big tube for $11 and it will last you a lifetime. Might be worth a try, or might just remain my secret for the worlds smoothest sebenza! :D

Interesting.. I think I'll give this stuff a try as well.. Thanks!

I use "Engage" by Drummond. A synthetic with Teflon… works well , super smooth. little dab will do ya…..doesn't seem to hold grit or dirt...

I use militec-1 and the fluorinated grease from CRK both work great but I thin the militec is a little smoother and less of hydraulic feel.

STOS grease. I bought a small jar a long time ago for use on my over and under shotgun and started using it on my knives when I got into the hobby. Can't say it's anything special though. I have been aiming to try a different lube but, don't really know why I want to.

@BBW: how did the King grease work out? I have a small bottle.

Dry moly lube. Its good enough for my firearms, its good enough for my knives. Also no grease to attach dirt and grit. Used Hoppe's Moly lube in past; recently switched to Seymour version as it uses a less volatile propellant/liquid carrier and allows more time for the MoS2 colloids to penetrate into tight nooks and crannies.

Well if you didn't like it, at worst you paid $11 for a very nice tube of awesome grease. I'd be really interested if you tried it out as to what your opinion of it was. The Eureka lube is similar to the CRK lube in that it doesn't run out of the pivot, or stain clothes etc. It is very light gold colour and seems to contain PTFE or some version of it suspended in fluid. I find it enhances the smooth feeling and also when I rebuild/clean a knife that had Eureka in it, I find it is still on the surface of the washers and they are still lubricated looking after weeks of use. I obsessed (to put it mildly) over this pivot grease issue, and have done many hours of boring experimentation with oils and greases of all sorts, to the point where I figured I was going to go nuts if I took another CRK apart. I tried my hardest to convince myself I like the CRK grease more, but I can't. I'm stuck on Eureka lube. It beats everything else I tried and I can't do any more testing while keeping my sanity! :D.

From the Eureka product literature (sounds like everything you want in a pivot grease, especially the high residual lubrication and water resistance if you wash your knife often....smoother and quieter too ;) ):

Key Benefits: Smoother & quieter operation - Clean & easy to apply - Superior lubrication - High Anti-wear & Extreme Pressure properties - High water resistance - High residual lubrication
