I have tried mounting my Lrg Sebenza on my DMT Aligner clamp but something just didn't seem right, when I went to hit the edge to the XXfine hone to check how it would be contacting the blade. It seemed like the bevel witdth was gonna be huge for a 20* setting on such a thin primary grind. Anybody have any advice?
I also noticed my XXF tan hone has some flaws in it which micro chip or roll the edge, and I can feel the difference when I checked with a different knife freehand. It doesn't bother me that much b/c I have a Spyderco 306 uf stone:(. Anyway I figure maybe someone has done a Seb and can be of guidance? Thanks Justin

I haven't yet sharpened my Sebenza (aside from some very, very minor brushes on ceramic and/or stropping), but I have an Aligner clamp. I'll have to mount the blade in it, and see how it lines up. Don't know how wide is 'too wide' for you, regarding bevel width(?). I'm sort of accustomed to seeing bevels that are fairly wide on blades this size (like a Buck 110, for example), after I re-bevel them. The blade on a large Seb is wider than the Buck's, so I'd expect the resulting bevel width to be even a little wider, if mounted the same way and if using the same angle setting on the clamp.

Go very gently, on your XXF DMT with the ceramic. It should burnish away the bumps fairly easily, I'd think. You might even be able to dislodge the 'bumps' with a cheaper, expendable blade, just scrubbing (gently) as if re-bevelling it. Rough spots often get removed this way anyway, as the hone gets 'broken in'.

Thanks David, I don't mind a wide bevel really I just didn't want o do irreversible damage. You know I tried burnishing the bumps with a crapier blade and I think there still not gone. I think I'll try being a little more agressive and see if that does it:thumbup: Thanks for the tips:thumbup: all of my other blades I've done have come out great due to your guidance before. Thanks again- Justin
