painted their car with rattle cans? I've been thinking about painting my '65 VW Baja. Right now it's a really faded tan. Any recommendations for brands of primer or paint? Thanks.

Go to your local automotive store. There are actually some really good quality paints in spray cans. They even have spray nozzles that will give you a vertical or horizontal spray pattern, like a spray gun. They also make a handle that snaps on the can to help keep your finger from tiring. Looks like a gun grip or something. Just make your coats thin, and even. Start with a decent primer, sand with fine paper between coats, and finish with a good clear coat. Your auto store can help you out.

I can't say that I have painted a car, but I have painted my duck boat, and new motor camo. I used some flat black, green, and tan paint from Wal-Mart, and it turned out pretty good.

I was thinking flat black. I saw a Baja done up like that years ago and it looked mean for such a little car.

My first car was a '52 Plymouth station wagon that someone had painted with grey house paint and a brush. A very sturdy, if not stylish, finish!:D

When I was just a kid back in the late seventies, my dad bought a 67 Olds 442 convertible. It's previous life was spent on the local indian reservation where it had received a nice broomed on finish. Blue base with silver and black swirls down the side. Someone deserved a severe azz kickin.

You have nothing to worry about. Just mask everything with newspaper and masking tape and apply very light coats. Too much paint will cause drips and running.
