Anyone familiar with Aculeate Technologies? Anyone own one of their knives?

they are interesting designs but like you said there aren't any real knives to see. Until their work is seen I don't think they can be taken seriously.I am keeping an eye out though:)

I too saw that website a while ago, and the concepts are interesting, but I frankly doubt the execution (until I see some samples). I'll be interested in hearing what folks think once a few of these get out.

Well, it looks like the folks at Aculeate managed to get some knives made. I'd like to know what kind of steel they're using; given the high degree of complexity of the designs, and the large billet size, combined with the relatively low price, I would have to guess something cheap. Also, I find a few of the knives interesting, but they look to have odd "features" that I don't think enhance their utility (weird notches in the edge, jags in the blade, etc.) If anybody wants to check them out, see the link below:

Interesting, aggressive designs, but I see no practical use for any of them. I will reserve final judgement until I get one or more in my hands...

Interesting fantasy knives. How do they compare to the Hibbens and Raes out there?

They actually look like plastic in those pics, not metal.

Wow, Facinating scultural forms. Odd finish though, these do look like plastic resin prototypes more than a finished product. If you click through to get a more complete spec on one individual design there is a check list of several different materials available, begining with a proprietary high performance tool steel, etc.
