looking at the specs for the 13, the blade is about an inch shorter than the 11 or 14... has anyone successfully been able to mod their BK-9 sheath to take an 11 or 14?

I mean, it would be a shame to have to order another knife and all...

There have been aftermarket Kydex and leather sheaths that would take an 11/14, but the stock sheath, IMO, will be difficult to do. I mean you can just drop the 11/14 sheath into the pouch, and roll with it. Good question, gonna be interested to see how this turns out.

i'm sure i'll destroy it and have to find something else to hold my BK-9. at least i have a weekend project now :)

If anyone sends me a 7 or 9, I will make them a custom kydex insert that will fit the sheath perfectly. And here comes the fantastic part: I will even mail the kydex insert to your front door COMPLETELY FOR FREE!

Joking aside, just try to make something that fits there. Get creative and stuff.

something i didn't think about until i got home and looked at it last night was the length of the BK-11 would require the pouch to be elongated and stitched further down to account for the extra blade and handle length. I did get the insert out though. It's definitely long enough to hold the 11, but after the mouth, it is really narrow so i'd have to make a new insert to hold the 11.

I might try and make a new plastic insert, but it will obviously have to be wider, and i didn't check if the sheath would accommodate a wider insert into that spot. I guess i'll find out!

You can see where I ripped the plastic off of the stitching holding it into the sheath :)

Good start and beautiful pictures, keep us posted. Have you looked into kydex? You should probably give it a try, it's not that hard.
