Anyone from Dallas, TX area?

Hey guys,
Looking to see if anyone is from the Dallas, TX area. I moved to Dallas roughly 5 years ago. Having not grown up here, I am limited with the amount of people I know. Looking for people in the area who really like to go camping/hiking? I love to be out in the woods and have grown up camping but I am a bit of a noob at the whole "minimalist" thing....
 
I am 20 minutes North. Texastonydobbs, where do you go to get out into the woods ? Your favorite campgrounds?
 
nothing close , meridain is a great little getaway place or
I head out to houston area ,new waverly actually in the stubblefield area , most local trails around will not let you practice fire.... so just hiking around and being outdoors I have 1 nature trail area I go to but it sucks b/c it is 85% of the time closed on the weekends
 
When I lived in FW we used to go out to the LBJ Grasslands near Decatur. Google it. Lots of info and a lot of land without many rules and regs. There was a Black something lake that was nice and you could camp.--KV
 
LBJ grasslands-many rules-many people-many rangers-I spent so much time there until it was closed to shooting my wife threatened to cremate me and scatter my ashes there. I camp and hike there but it is not the same.
