I think, I know a place, where I can look at one. $200 seems kinda steep. Anyone else thinking about buying one? Would it be a hard use folder, or gentlmen's knife?

I plan to get one. I really like my wife's P/3G I bought her so I think I may get a PXL. I was able to talk her into allowing me to use her knife for a couple days or so. Real sharp out of the box and I did quite a bit cutting with it. It kept a great edge on it. I have taken a liking to Fallkniven.

I have one and love it. It uses top quality materials and has one of the "solidest" feeling liner locks I've ever come across. The fit and finish are above any other production knife I've ever had.

As far as it being a hard use folder or a gentleman's....both. I can carry this knife knowing that if I ever have to pull it out I won't cause any onlookers unwanted bowel movements. But I also know it can handle chores that come up in my everyday tasks.

One thing to mention is that this knife doesn't have massive finger choils, aggressively textured scales and it isn't covered in jimping. It is a fairly sleek and smooth knife. So if you are covered in sweat and blood and have to much a stab attack, it might slip.

This knife isn't quite on the custom level but it comes pretty close. It uses Teflon washers so it's insanely smooth. Teflon washers may not be as strong as PB washers but I think as long as you don't unnecessarily abuse the knife you should be fine. Remember you should only put a folder through so much before you go pick up that fixed blade.

Well said tjsulli

Absolutely worth every penny, I own two, but have to admit I haven't managed to work one into my rotation yet.

Here are some links to threads on the PXL that may be of interest to you.

Excellent folder, probably one of the best around and on the same par with the Sebenza! It is a bit heavy though but its cutting abilities are impressive. $200 is an absolute bargain for a European knife that costs as much as $320 in Europe! If I had the money I would buy both versions (ivory and brown micarta).

pulled the trigger on one yesterday and cannot wait to get it. plan on using the heck out of it.

I pulled that same trigger, only it was today! I went with the maroon micarta this time and since I opted for overnite delivery, I'll have it tomorrow. I had the ivory version but ended up trading it and regretting it. All the recent talk got me excited again, and along with an unexpected bump on my paycheck today and I couldn't resist it. Also picked up a Leatherman Serac S2 LED flashlight. I have a Streamlight Microstream that gets carried everyday and used almost everyday! The S2 puts out almost double the lumens, 20 vs 35 and the S2 has the option of a 5 lumen setting also. The Streamlight and Leatherman both use 1 AAA battery and have a shirtpocket clip. Looking forward to the "toys" arriving tomorrow...........especially since I'm off work!

Ah yes, the only thing better than new toys, is a day off work to play with them

(well, there are few things better, but this is a family forum)

I purchased one last week after starting a similar thread.

I've had it about a week. I'm very happy with it. It is heavy compared to other knives I've had, but after carrying it all week I no longer notice it. It feels better in my hand due to the thickness and weight than most knives I have tried. Very solid lockup. Zero blade play. Opens butter smooth.

I would say it's worth the $200 dollar asking price. Of course, I wish it were about $150.

I did have a issue. After I had mine for 5 hours I noticed a small chip in the sealant on the clip side. It had to get there by my fingernail, or was already there because I never set it down on anything but a towel. The sealant must have been too thin there. I emailed Fallkniven immediately and they said send it in and we will replace it. I literally had the knife 5 hours. I hope they just replace the scale. I don't need the whole knife replaced. Mine opens perfectly and has a perfectly centered blade.

I haven't sent it yet because I having trouble parting with it for the warrany work. I plan on sending it Monday so I can carry it again this weekend.

Mine is the maroon model. If it had be white I probably would have never noticed it.

Great to hear you are pleased with your purchase k12s.

I have had a couple very minor issues with my Fallkniven's and Peter and Eric have remedied the problems no questions asked. IMHO and experience Fallkniven has established themselves as a company with unquestionable integrity when it comes to standing behind their product.

The PXL is IMO, the finest folding knife, for the money, made today.

I have folders that cost twice what the PXL does, but they are not twice the knife.
They are better in many areas, but they do not offer as much bang for the buck as the PXL.

It is a heavier than some knives. A ZT0300 weighs a lot more though, and nobody complains about its weight, hmmm.

Anyone looking for a high end folder that won’t break the bank need look no further.

Never did post back, but my PXL arrived just fine this past Friday morning. I did make a seperate post about it though. I really like the maroon micarta over the ivory just due to personal preferences. A couple things I did, though mentioned in my other post, was to switch out the teflon washers for some phospher-bronze washers and I really like the result. I also covered the clip with some black 3M Stair Step tape. I had some problems with it though, as the tape had to be cut in some thin strips to allow acess to the pivot screw. Last night I stripped off the tape and then took another piece, and placed it along the bottom part of the clip, where the bend is. Went about 1/2" up with it. Now it does not interfere with the pivot screw acess and it is in just the right spot for my forefinger to grip it when I pull out the knife. That is my only real complaint with this knife anyway, and that is it being really smooth and somewhat slippery.

I have read where Fallkniven has said more models of the PXL will be released and I think a "tactical" model would be nice. Maybe a stonewashed blade and some full canvas micarta grips, with a thicker liner of .080" to maybe a .100" thick. Add a blade of .150" to .160" and I'm on it! :D:D:thumbup:

So... after enthusiastically promoting the PXL as a great knife I decided it was time to put up or shut up.

My opinion thus far has been based on my favorable experience with other Fallkniven models and out of box impression of the PXL.

I have owned a PXL for the past several months with full intention of EDC'ing it at some point.

Today was the day. I decided to park my P/3G for awhile and EDC the PXL for a few months to give it a real world trial. I'm going to miss the P/3G it has been flawless, holds a razor sharp edge, easy to sharpen, blade deploys smooth as silk, and it is lightweight and slim in the pocket. I'm sure I'll enjoy the PXL just as much.

Before putting it into service I re-profiled the edge to convex, and now It's ready to go.

In a month or so my impression and comments on this knife will include hands on experience.

Got my ivory PXL today. Talk about a custom made looking knife! I tried hard, to find, a fault, with the knife, and could not find any. It opens smooth, as silk, and locks with a snapp. I have handled alot of knives, included several sebenza's, and this is some kinda knife. It would almost fall through, 1" limbs, on the trees, on my walking trail. The handle, fit my hand real good, and their is no rough spots. I sure think I got my monies worth. May have to get the maroon, to go with it. Thanks everyone for the good reviews.

I think I just had a dejavoo episode.

Seriously, glad you like it. Everytime Dagnabit post a pic on here of a white one I find myself rebalancing my checkbook again.:p

I really am happy with my maroon one. No complaints whatsoever.

Dagnabit that convex edge looks goooood!

Thanks, it actually shaped up without a lot of effort. I used the mousepad/sandpaper method and started with 320 grit then worked my way up trhrough 400, 600, and 1500, then finished with a leather strop.

I was able to get it shaving sharp, just like it is out of the box.

BTW, I chose to EDC my Ivory PXL. No particular reason really. Both knives are very conservative looking, but the Ivory is perhaps a bit more so. Decided that due to the large size the Ivory had a slight sheeple advantage for around the worksite.
