Leaving next Saturday for Sturgis. Will be partying for a week in S.D. Now which Emerson would you all recommend that I take? Just for your information I have no production knives, so I'm going to break in a custom, and will continue to carry it. Anyone else going to Sturgis?

I vote for the CQC8. If your going to carry a knife, it may as well be a big knife.

I ride ( 93 flhs ), but I won't make it to Sturgis this year. Your CQC8 would be a good choice, and I would advise carrying it in a belt pouch when you are riding, and in your pocket when you are on foot. Have a great trip and ride safe!

If you are expecting trouble than I would either not go or carry a SIG P229,40 S&W, Nite Sites, with 12 rnd mags which is what I do!

Being a veteran of Sturgis and Daytona (damn near ever year for the last 18 years), I can say that usually "trouble" only finds those that are looking for it. The CQC8s main function I'm sure will be utility.

Sniper308 is a big boy and from trading emails with him, I can say that I have no doubt as to his maturity and stability. He'll be fine.

Me thinks you have watched "The Wild One" too many times.

Man, some of the excuses I've heard off line for not going this year. Maybe this should be moved to the "Wine and Cheese forum!"

Anyway, so far no one else it seems that has a great interest in Emersons is going. It also appears that the majority of you prefer big knives, and the CQC8 is definately in the majority. However, since the CQC8 is my least favorite Emerson I can assure you that it ain't the one that's going. I'm tore between the CQC5 or the 6. Anyone have any thoughts between these two other than the 6 is the largest?

Also, I've learned to spot trouble long before it happens, and I've had to wade though a ton of it in my career in law enforcement. If I thought I needed a gun I could take one legally, but remember this is a party vacation! . . . Anyone else going?

I'd have to go with the CQC6 . . . AND YES BECUASE IT'S BIGGER!!!!

That having been said, let's not forget the CQC7.

Sniper308,

With all the talk about trouble, are you sure that you do not want to borrow a Rhino from somebody? Any offers?

Regards,

Ed

You hit the nail on the head! That I believe would be the perfect knife for me to take. Now if I just had one!

Anyone got one they want to sell or trade for? I've got some good trading material!

As an attendee of the 90th and 95th reunions I can agree that Harley riders are a laid back group. I did not mean to disparage anyone's ability to make decisions or take care of themselves. Unfortunately I do not have a CQC-8 to lend Sniper 308.

Just a short follow up to let you know the decision.

After initally posting, and saying I have no production folders, I, like a lot of you received a SOCKF (#128) that I forgot I had on order. I like this knife and decided for this trip that this knife would be the one to accompany me.

It's big enough, stong enough and should serve my purpose well. Hopefully it doesn't get any roadrash!

See all you suspects in about a week!

Take Care!
