First of all, my big news:

I GOT ENGAGED!!!

Now, to my Surefire question! So I want to pick up a Surefire to carry EDC, having read lots on their extreme usefulness.

Of course, oen use I have in mind is a night time survival tool. Bad guys approach at night her ein the city, so I use ,y light to blind and such. I am reading lots on the use of lights this way, and I'll be practicing light, light and knife, light and stick, light and empty hand, etc. in the gym with my training buds. But, which light do I get? I've been looking at the E2e online, and the M2. Which makes for the best EDC light with defensive usage in mind?

Thanks guys

I've got 3 surefire lights all are basically the 6P version one is the m2, one is the nytrolon, and one is a 6P, all work really well kinda short battery life though. They would definately mess up someones night vision if you needed to do that.

Crayola, first off, congratulations on your engagement. Contrary to popular opinion, married life can be a blast.

"Which makes for the best EDC light with defensive usage in mind?"

That's a very good question. I own an E2e-HA and a M2 myself. I carry the E2e-HA and my AR every day I work. I carry my AR every day. There is hardly any noticeable difference in output between the E2e-HA and the M2. So, to answer your question, I'd say the E2e-HA. Unless you plan to bean somebody with your SF, of course. The "shock isolated bezel" on the M2 is better for beaning people, I suppose.

First off, congrats... i'm going to be engaged soon as I can save up for a ring.

Second, I have the E2eHA as well. It is small, but puts out enough light. Plenty of light IMO for anything I have ever used it for. In fact even in normal conditions it is bright enough to make you squint a little.

The E2e is actually smaller than I thought it would be. Very nice for EDC. In retrospect, however, I'm not too sure if I'm a fan of the pocket clip. I would almost prefer the lanyard system of the Z2 instead and having the lanyard hang slightly out of my pocket with the light in deep instead of having the light clipped bezel-up to my pocket.

I'm actually considering switching to an Inova X5T (or whatever it is) as an EDC because of the potential for lanyard use. I would switch to the E2e when I know I will be out and about in the dark. Otherwise, for normal daytime EDC I think the Inova would be 'enough'. Plus, it can utilize the batteries from the E2e after they have become too depleted.

Check out the "Tactical Impact Device" from GG&G. It looks like it will add a new dimension to defensive use of flashlights. gggaz.com shows them, and they are for sale on Triple Aught Design's site. I plan to order one as soon as the amex card closes out this month's billing period.

I have a M2 Centurion, E2E HA and a Elite E1e.

I carry the E1e w/ a GG&G inmpact device as my EDC. The nice thing about Surefire is that they have something for everyone.

The M2 sits in my truck and the E2E is my back up light.

Good luck in your choice and CONGRATS on the engagment,

Brian

I have 2 SureFires.......an M2 and an E2e-HA. The E2e is my EDC (I have an office job) and the M2 is carried whenever I go to the field. I always use a P61 HOLA in the M2. Also, while I love having a few SC1s in my pack for extra batteries & bulbs, I use an Advantix film canister (thrown in my briefcase) for carrying the requisite 2 spare batteries for my E2e. Finally, Inova X5 lights will run on batteries that appear *dead* in you SF lights. SO, while I keep an X5 in my briefcase as well, with fresh batteries in it, it could be used as a source of spare batteries for my E2e (and the "dead" ones from my E2e could be inserted into the Inova X5...

Finally, I'd stay away from "toothy" add-ons... To me, they seem like a law suit waiting to happen. The GGG will also mar your bezel and if you are proficient with using small impact weapons, the hard edge (alone) of your E2e or M2 will do very well indeed. The M2 is shock isolated, so it is is lit and you have to hit someone with it...it is less likely to go out. That being said, I've never blown out a bulb in my E2e...and I have dropped it (lit) many times.

Anyway, that's my .02

Oh, and CONGRATS!

CONGRATS on the engagment! I'm getting my M2 tomorrow. I didn't do
any specification comparison job, just followed my sense of aethetics.
Think it's the coolest despite of the fact that it is a BIG battery power consummer.

my question: how long (how many hours) does a bulb in M2 serve generalLy?

pls share your experience, thanx!

For me I prefer the rechargable models. I have an
9N and an 6P with adapter. However for EDC I usually
carry an E1. You can't go wrong with any of the
Surefires thy're all excellent. :)
