Anyone have one of these?

I tried that bowling game at the mall today and it seemed pretty fun. And that game is the worst of the lot from what I hear. Tennis sounded the most interesting.

I was thinking for casual gamers like me that this would be the perfect game system.

i have one.

haven't played any of those wii sports games so much, and i think that wii "training" thing is kinda silly.... but my roommate wakes up every morning and does wii training so he can lower his wii age. i think it's hilarious.

zelda is fun. that's really the only game we've got for it. we've got 'red steel' inbound to us, and i'm anxiously awaiting playing through that one.

i don't know what to say. wii graphics aren't anytihng advanced, but then again it's not really a graphic-system. i think nintendo engineers put all their effort working out those sweet motion-sensitive input devices. i can honestly say i'm really impressed with the wii, it's by far the most revolutionary game system that has hit the market. on the other hand...

my soul for a ps3.

My wife stood in line for hours at Wal*Mart trying to get one for my 15 year old son. She was 12th in line. They only had 9. :grumpy:

Not paying 500 bucks for one on ebay. Although my wife might have preferred that to getting up at 4:00am!

He can get one in March. They do sound kind of fun though.

haha, i hear ya bro.

i got an interesting story about that. my roommate woke me up at 7am (i know, i know soooo early) to go wait outside gamestop for one, they were gettting 50, i think. so we waited in line, he was going to buy one for the apt and i was going to buy one to sell on ebay. there was a line going out the door, so the clerks at gamestop decided instead, they would hand out tickets to the first 50 ppl in line, so everyone else would know to go home. and guess what, i was lucky number 50. but i felt really bad about it, because i was only buying it to sell on ebay, and having waited there for 2 hours we'd gotten to know the people standing around us. so i gave my ticket to the guy behind me, who was trying to get the wii for his son. turns out, this guy is the production manager or something, at EOtech inc., so maybe some day, he'll remember me and cut me a deal on a holographic sight for my rifle. ;)

That was a cool story, way to go.

;)

hey all, if you buy one game for the wii, make it RED STEEL.

Midget,

How do you like Red Steel? It seems all the user opinions and reviews I've read have panned it pretty bad.

I've seen Zelda played by a friend, and I've played the heck out of Wii sports, and I love the system. Takes me back to the good ol days of the original Nintendo.

I can't wait for Metroid 3 to come out..

no, red steel is AWESOME. it takes some time to get used to teh controls, but once you do, it's great.

the game inself is buggy though.. a lot of places where the game can freeze up or make you stuck for no reason, and then you have to restart the level... :(

Midget,

That's what I've been hearing. It also seems like it doesn't look nearly as good as Ubisoft was promising..Ah well. I'm just glad to see systems like the Wii and the DS out there, changing gameplay.

Okay, I guess I am totally ignorant here.
What is the motion system of Wii?? Red Steel???
I don't own any console systems so forgive me if this is a totally foolish line of questioning.

My oldest boy stood in line 5 hours for one - and got it. The motion sensitive controls send signals to a receiver bar you place on top of the TV set.

I've seen some pretty wierd gyrations from the neighborhood kids in the sports games, so I think the motion pickup in the control isn't very discrete. Seem you can wave it around and do fairly well, but as with any sport, consistency is the key - whatever worked to hit a homer must be precisely repeated on the same kind of pitch. So it's real world in that regard.

I've noticed their thumbs aren't bulking up as fast as other games - it does use more whole body motion. Big seller for adults indulging their kids.

The remote eats alkalines - get rechargeables and set up a changeout routine.

My youngest son bought Call to Duty III and that might get me to play. That's all I did as a kid in the '60's! He's getting tired of me coaching "Pie the corner - check your 6! - Aim, ammo doesn't grow on trees!"

Sorry for bringing up an old thread but I thought it would be better to post in this one than make a new one.

I just bought a wii yesterday, its freaking sweet. I bought Far Cry for it since it was only 20 bucks at wal-mart. The game is good but it could have been better. Crappy graphics and ai, the controls take some getting used to but its pretty fun once you get the hang of it.

Wii sports is a lot more fun than far cry though. Bowling rocks, the boxing is weird though; very basic. Punch high to hit the head punch low for the body combos are pretty much non existant. The golf is fun. About as near to real life as one can get, as far as the controls go anyway. I hate the tennis.

I think Im going to try call of duty 3 next, or maybe zelda.

My son finally did get his. He really likes it. I have to admit that the sports package is pretty fun. I think the graphics are a step back (definately compared to the PS3 and XBox 360) even from the PS2 and Gamecube.

For less than the price of the new PS3, he got the Wii, 2 controllers, 2 "nunchuks" and 4 games, so that wasn't too too bad.

Tiewas,

You might want to steer clear of Call of Duty 3 for the Wii. A step back in graphics, along with a step down in ease of control. Same thing for Red Steel. I got a chance to play that one, and found it nearly impossible to play.
