has anyone actually received an RMJ FORGE SHRIKE yet for those of you who have pre-ordered one??

i'm debating on canceling my order but was hoping someone here would talk me out of it by telling me how much i would regret it but i dont think anyone has one yet.

they told me 4-5 weeks and then 6 weeks later they told me another 6 weeks which i expected but i called them and gave them my CC info so they could bill me now and then just ship it when its ready because my finances are so tight i need to know when the money is going to be deducted but its been two weeks now and its like they completely ignored my phone call and never billed me.

i'll call'em back and try again but i'm starting to wonder how bad i really want this thing.

i understand the civilian orders cant go out until the military orders go out and i respect that but like they told me since the history channel keeps playing that one episode military orders keep rolling in so i dont see when this cycle of mine and other civilian orders being pushed back will end.

if i had almost $400.00 just lying around it wouldnt be an issue but i kind of need that money and if they dont take it from me i'm going to do what i should do with it like pay the bills.

this is the same problem the eagle talon ran into. more than likely the dealers will get them first anyway. maybe bladeart or tadgear have some better idea as to when they will be available?

i dont think they deal with dealers.i've never noticed them at TADGEAR either.

i dont mind the wait.i understand it and respect it.i'm not in the service.i want mine,i dont NEED it.

for the record though, all is good now.as of today,9/11 i have been billed so now i can sit back, relax and wait until it arrives in the next few weeks or months.

i was just worried they would go to bill me and the funds wouldnt be there.just because i bought it doesnt mean i can afford it.....LOL.

if i bought what i could afford i wouldn't want anything:p

maybe tadgear doesn't carry rmj anymore but that is where i got my eagle talon a few years ago.

I bought an RMJ crash axe at Blade Show a couple years ago. They did not have the sheath, and said they'd mail me two different sheaths so that I could try them out and give them feedback. A few months went by and no sheath. When I tried to contact them I got no response.

Eventually they did come thru--can't remember exactly how long, but it was quite a few months. They only shipped me one sheath, not the two promised, but that is no biggie to me.

Anyway, my conclusion is that they are well-meaning but not quite on top of things business-wise. I recall clicking on RMJ on a purveyor site, and they had posted a message saying something like 'out of stock--and we're sick of their excuses' lol.

RMJ Tactical has been plagued with the issues mentioned here almost since it's inception. Do a Search (You can do a Search of BF here - http://www.google.com/coop/cse?cx=011197018607028182644%3Aqfobr3dlcra through Google) Search for RMJ Forge or Ryan Johnson and read some of the threads.

IMHO there are way too many companies that use the "Massive Military Orders" as an excuse for just about every issue/challange that is brought up, the fact is that much of the knife buying public accepts it. The short History Channel thing is an extension of this.

I'm sure you have heard (or will hear) folks who say, "No problem, they are great people and whenever they get mine out I will be happy" or " I trust them and they are worth waiting for" or "I put the troops safety above my own need to have one". That's great. But since you have a concern my opinion is that you should take this opportunity to cancel your Order (speak with your wallet) and find a company who is prompt and communicative.

wow,you said something i've been thinking for a long time.

i might get tarred and feathered for this one but sometimes i get a little skeptical about how many of these "military orders" some of these companies actually do.

i'm sure they do some but wonder if its as many as they lead us to believe.

i deal with busse a lot so i'm used to and understand things not always being prompt.good things take time.

if it keeps getting pushed back like i'm affraid it will i may cancel.i'll only take the "6 more weeks" line so long.

the problem is and i understand it,this is all a second job for these guys and their second priority.

i cant deny they make a good product and it just seems to be so good that they cant keep up with it.

i'm on the fence right now.

i bought an Eagle Talon a couple years back and was prepared to wait forever.... Ryan produces his stuff in huge batches to fill orders (which may or may not be that huge) if you place an order at the right time then others have done all the waiting for you:)

Any company, small ones most of all, will not run a batch untill there are enought orders. This is how they make a profit.

I just ordered mine today. Being active duty military has it's advantages I guess. I'll let you know how long it takes to get it though. I know that several units have ordered these for their troops and the orders were filled. I'm wondering if they do the same thing that goes on in the MILSPEC arena. They may wait to start production until the volume of orders will consume a bulk order for material. They may be waiting on the micatra material as well from another vendor. We see it all the time when ordering parts. I have seen that scenario many times with 20mm and 25mm gun parts. I'm still waiting on parts that have been on back order for 3 years.

The guy that I talked to that had one for his unit said that they open purchased them with a govt CC. Small unit size with a big OPTAR budget. Cant tell you the unit though. yes, it's one of "Those" units.

I called today to check on my order as it had been 3 weeks since I placed it. They told me there were 28 orders in front of mine and it would be about another 3 weeks. The original estimate was 4 to 7 weeks. 6 weeks is in right that range.
RMJ has been very pleasant and responsive when I have called. If the Shrike is anything like their customer service, it should be top quality. I have no complaints.
