Hey Beckerheads,
I'm flying into Miami on 9/23 and my plane to Lima doesn't leave until 9/25. I have a full day in south Florida to poke around. Anyone have any suggestions for outdoor type adventures?

hey man im in miami here we dont have woods but we have alot of fishing and some trails also everglades lots of gators if u like that they stand like a foot away from u . . .other than that its all miami has as far as fun outdoor stuff . .i wish i had woods like u guys

Are you gonna be in Miami or Broward?

If Miami, try here, you can rent kayaks, etc. and you don't have to travel out into the Everglades for it, it's known as an urban park ( or something like that)

In Broward try West Lake Park, same kind of deal, intercoastal kayaking ( or canoeing) through mangrove canopy

Both are good options, a bunch of other stuff, just requires a bit of a drive, those are good options and convenient

Everglades National park has a lot of options, but this may not be the best time of year for hiking out there ( I'd check first) water levels are probably high ( and Mosquitos), Shark Valley is a pretty cool bike ride loop with a couple walking trails off it, loaded with gators

Although, if I only had one day, I'd hit South Beach or Fort Lauderdale beach

If you do the airboat in the morning you can spend the afternoon on the beach.

Make sure and stop by La Gran Via Bakery on corner of Calle Ocho (SW 8th St), and SW 9th Ct. Their pastelitos and cafe con leche are the stuff, but be patient, their English is a bit limited. Keep in mind, if the street name has "Street" after it, its east-west, if it has Avenue after it, it's north south.

The wife and I can't wait to get back to Miami next spring.

Boar are all over the state, but the majority of them are anywhere at or above the Palm Beach County area

I suggest you do one of the airboat swamp tour tourist attractions, if you want to get a feel for the Everlades. Or, drive south to Islamorada in the Keys, rent a kayak or go on a boat tour/ snorkling trip.
There is a place there called Robbie's where you can hand feed 6' long tarpon off of a dock. Whatever you do, wear a hat, sunglasses and use sunscreen, have a fun and safe trip.
