for giving that 'Gee are you stupid' look to your wife or friend when they askif you have a sharp knife with you?

After several battles, I've got the wife over this. Mst friends just give me a 'Well excuse me. You're the knife nut. I forgot.' They'll learn someday to know that I always have a Busse blade or two of some kind on me.

If they ask that stupid question...yes they are going to get that look.

Why should we get in trouble if they ask the dumb questions?

Not from the wife....she carries 3 knives herself...still trying to get her a "$50" Busse

I don't have problem with your situation. Since they all know already. When things happen they need help, they just ask me automatically. I behave, with new friends, I never show or talk about sharpy unless some old friends start to making fun out of me.

EDC, I carry 2 blades with me. One CRKT, the other DDR folder (Busse, I just don't hv choice.) But I do encounter following problem a lot:

They ask: Can I borrow knife from you?
(then I give them my CRKT)
They ask: Why I can't use that one (saw my DDR folder)
Me: Errrrrr..........

My wife always takes my smaller Busse knives. But that leaves the bigguns to me. ;) It's a comprimise I can live with. :)

My reply to the "Can I borrow...." question is usually "Sure, just sign over your next paycheque (or 2 or 3, depending on their job!) and you can do what you want with it". Mind you, After the last person sliced open 3 of 4 fingers and her thumb cleaning it off, (a Busse) I don't get asked as much!
Tried to wipe it like a butterknife, OPPS!

Those that know me simply hold their hand out, they know that I have a knife or two on me.

My favorite "loaner" is my Atwood Booger.

The country gents I live near think a small 2" blade is great and are amused by my 3"-4" tactical folders (and larger). I have given them some nice knives, but they just won't carry them. Their loss... I guess there are "knife folks" and then those that aren't.

Simple question I ask those who would like to borrow my knife:

You’re not a hemophiliac, are you?

Usually makes them pay attention to what they are going to do/doing with my knife.

Now there you go. I try and derail the thread and you guys get right back to talking about knives.

Well if any woman wants something on the smaller side of what I'm packing I send them to Guyon. :p

My brother-in-law used to call me a knife nut (he still does, but now in a good way). He thought I was crazy and couldn't understand why I ALWAYS had a knife.

Over the years he has asked me to borrow one of my knives for countless everyday little tasks. Eventually he began to admire my collection and wanted to get a knife for himself. His fiance freaked out and said a big knife is dangerous.

So... I got him a Trekker SAK for Christmas and I got her a tiny little Classic SAK (you know the little dinky keychain kind). They were both very happy with their gifts. A few days later I took them camping with their kids (five of them:eek: ). They asked me for my knife several times until it finally occured to them they had their own now.

Several of my family members including my own mother could not understand why I had firearms as well. Then, just a few days ago, while walking with my dog, my wife and four month old son, a vicious mastiff attacked and grabbed my dog by the neck and when it let go it turned and came at me!
I shot the dog one time and ended the situation.

I never thought I would live to hear my own mother and in-laws (except my mother-in-law) happy to know I had a gun and was able to defend my family.

My dog is healing well and the rest of us were not physically hurt. My wife even yelled at me to start carrying a 45ACP instead of my 9mm. Five years ago she wouldn't even look at a gun. She thinks my knives are nice, and the guns are good to have. But lately I have made a bunch of new knife and gun converts! :D
