They sell several which I believe they claim come from old military stock in India. Anyone got one? What kind of steel are they? In visiting their store here in GA I was kind of turned off by the anchient grease covering them, but I guess thats why they have lasted.

They also sell Brown Bess muskets and other very old British Empire firearms.

Yes. I purchased two some time ago. They are the real deal, historic hand forged military issue khukris.

One thing to be aware of, they may vary slightly from the description. For instance, the World War II khukri I purchased was actually somewhat older, from 1902-1928.

And the "patch knives" being sold separately, I don't believe they are as old as advertised.

These Atlanta Cutlery Khurkris have been mentioned quite a few times down in Manufacturers - Himalayan Imports - Cantina.

My wife bought me one as a Christmas present when they were first offered by Atlanta Cutlery. (The antique military models listed are not from India, nor does AC say they are.)
She paid extra for a special selection.
What came has a bent & broken tip, a ragged edge, and a cracked handle. Extremely disappointing.
I wouldn't mind the grease at all, that's what's preserved them. I expected honest wear, they are, after all, old & were actually issued. The grease can be removed.
Not saying our experience is typical, just responding to your question.

As for what the steel is, I doubt anybody can tell you.
