Hey, all,

Still working on opening up my LAN Gaming Center, but I'm hitting a bit of a snag...I'm wanting to use Zalman Surround Sound Headsets, which are SWEET (honest-to-God Dolby in your headset!!), but have no microphone boom on them.

No problem, I thought, I'll play up the whole "Tactical" bent for my FPS crowd, and get some throat mikes! WRONG-O!!! I've been searching the 'net for days, now, and all I'm finding are actual mikes for tac radios. These things, apart from costing $300+ EACH, have a custom connector, so they won't plug into a soundcard.

D'OH!!

Anyone got a source for affordable throat mikes that have standard connections?!? I'm trying Radio Shack, but I'm not getting the warm and fuzzy that this'll work. Also, I've found a couple possibilities in the paintball arena, but they all come with an earpiece, which I don't need, and which will only get in the way. So, anybody out there have any ideas?

Thanks, as always, for any ideas anyone can advance!!

:D  :D

There are no throat mikes that are below 200.00 US on the market.

The reason for this is that they are a specialty item that is designed for law enforcement, military and hazmat applications.

They are used in environments where they must be waterproof, capable of isolating ambient noise, and well as robust enough not to emit any RF signal.

All of this doesn't come cheap.

Yeah, I was hoping to find something, maybe for use with a cellphone? Or maybe something that'd just plug into a walkie-talkie unit?

There's no WAY I can go the $450-$700 that I'm seeing these things going for! I could buy another COMPUTER for the cost of four or five of those! YEEEEEOW!

Maybe I can cobble something up...after all, improvisation IS the name of the game!

;)

the lan centers near me use the
Labtec Headphone Mics
Platronics Audio .90s or DSP 500
