A freind has a project of 440C long knives. I normally do 440C in my shop but these suckers are too big for my forge. Know any place that can handle it.
(no wise cracks George!)

I don't know if you are considering a commercial heat treater, but Paul Bos can do them with no problem.

J. Now would I say a word??? On the forge we made add fire brick long enough for the blade, then make a quenching receptacle out of 2" angle line with flat stock welded on the ends long enough for leg too.

Hmmm!!! I read this somewhere. To quench blade heat to non-magnetic and put through young apprentice's stomach.  :p

naaa i think the triple quench with oil will work better on the stainless, apprentices are only good on japanese pattern welded blades
