Hey all....back again :)

I am interested in the Spyderco Stretch.

The only thing that I don't like about it is that the blade is only 3 1/8" long.
I prefer blades that are 3 1/2' or larger. But I really like the shape of the blade.
I am a little leary about the all Kryton handle.....would it grab the inside of your pocket while trying to put in/take out?

Does anyone else make a knife with a blade shape like this in the 3 1/2" range or a little longer & is there steel any good?

Thank you to all that can help. As my signature says.....I am on the never ending search for the perfect EDC knife.

Oooops, almost forgot......
VG-10....is it good for every day use or will it need to be touched up frequently? My use for it is light to maybe medium at best.

I've had my Stretch about three weeks. When I first got it I was disappointed with the Kraton. It was difficult to get in and out of my pocket. After using it for a couple days the Kraton wore smooth at the clip area and now it is as smooth as silk. I also find the knife works better in my back pocket where the pants material is less flexible than the front pocket. I don't even know the knife is there. The Stretch eases in and out of the pocket nicely and stays put. This is my first knife of this sort and I love it. I'm tempted to get another Spyderco but I cannot imagine another knife I'd like better than the Stretch.

Cool, thank you for the input tucoblue.

Anyone else know of another knife Spyderco or not that has the same kind of blade style only bigger?

The blade IS 3 1/2 long. The cutting edge is 3 1/8. The VG-10 was sharp enough to shave out of the box. I've reshaped the edge a bit and have touched it up one time. Stays sharp. I use it 10-15 times a day cutting paper/cardboard, black tape, plastic, etc.

Man...your up early like me! Sure wish I could hit the snooze for a few more hours! Thank you for the update again. Looks like I am going to have to get me one :)

Hi Sixfeetdeep.

The Stretch is the refinement of models that have been developing since 1982. Mostly from customer feedback. Many protos were made for over a 6 month period until we were satisfied witht the design. Though it's not a showcase queen, it's easy to carry, is ergonomic for most hands and performs well. It was designed and manufactured to be used.

The Stretch passaround at BladeForums was recently completed and the Stretch is currently out on a KnifeForums passaround:

If anyone would like to signup, I could add you to the list.

I really like the Stretch’s blade shape and flat grind and I also like the Kraton inserts better than the plain SS handles, but I would love to see a FRN Stretch (maybe the Rescue handle would work with the Stretch blade?).

VG-10 is a great steel. It is more than adequate for your needs. I touch up my VG-10 Delica once a week, however, I use it to cut up a LOT of boxes at work.
