Anyone had experience with Australia post?

I am thinking about ordering some knives from asia to Australia and was wondering if anyone has had dealings with Australia post? None of the knives are illegal in Australia (as far as I know) ie. they aren't switch blades, balisongs or anything of that sort. But I have heard that there is a restriction on blade size? Does anyone know what it is?

I am looking to buy quality knives which cost quite a bit of money and I would hate to lose some cash because of either Australia posts incompetence or because generally importing knives to Australia is a bad idea.

I appreciate any advise. Thanks

I have had a couple of folders shipped by an Australian member here to me via Australia Post without incident. I also shipped him a small fixed blade (I described it as a 'small bushcraft knife' on the customes decleration) to him via USPS/Australia Post Express Mail Service without incident. As long as the knife is legal in .au, I wouldn't worry about it.

The guy I'm getting the knife from is based in South Korea and is a small independent supplier. Should I tell him to make sure to fill out a customs decleration? Also, do you remember the size of the blade on the fixed blade you sent?

I don't know much about receiving items like this through the post but I know Australian customs can be a bit over the top, especially with weapons.

Thanks for the info mate.
