Anyone has any idea where this kukri-styled blade comes from?

I bought this fairly recently (last year actually), but have no information on its make and origin. It is quite well-made, with good balance and a decent steel. It is not of a traditional design, but follows a modified modern version.

Any idea would be appreciated. More photos are available at http://www.devonbuy.com/gurkha-kukri/.

Not sure but this probably should of been posted in the Cantina. It looks to be a modern version with g10 scales. Post all non HI blades in the Cantina. Someone's will have an answer for you soon, we gotz lots of informed people here.

Your photos don't show the marking well enough to see for sure, but that looks like the work of Japanese knife maker Kiku Matsuda. The chiseled Micarta, the blade treatment...

This picture shows his mark:

Here's the most similar blade of his I could find:

Unless you paid close to $1000 for it it's probably a knockoff of a Kiku Matsuda.

Better pics of the sheath could help as that tends to indicate quality.

Looking at the photo of the original above and even more so, judging by the price I paid for it, I believe you're right - it is most likely a knock-off of a Kiku Matsuda. I was almost certain it was a knock-off, just curious to know a knock-off of what make. Truly, someone here definitely has an idea of which. Great - thanks for the enlightening!
