Was looking at the 295 tempest, thinking of getting one. How do you like yours? Is it durable, dependable, how is the bevel from the factory? And just assuming from previous knowledge, you one hand open it and it decides to open on it's own?

Hello Muskrat man!
Yes I have a tempest, and a sirus,and a rush or 2...
I love them! They are slick little knives! The only problem I HAVE EVER had is my Tempest is the oldest- the safety loosened up. Buck assured me they have since changed that part. But they have a lifetime warranty, and it is being repaired/replaced as I type! My sirus and rush(s) are all newer but open smooth every time. SHARP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First day I used the Rush to open my sons candy I stuck it in my index finger. SHARP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck! If you dont like it I'll take it :D
Jim
Forgot to add the tempest is 3 years old approximately... gets flipped open alot ;)

I would get the ATS34 version - the 296GY as I remember. The ATS steel is very nice from Buck. And as whf4 said... its sharp! very very sharp!

I have one and I like it---but I'm going to retire it and go with a fixed blade for EDC----the Tempest just gets too crudded up and needs constant maintainence to keep reliable---that's why I'm goin fixed---I want something I can always count on and forget about when I don't need it.

That's exactly why I decided against the Tempest and bought a Sirus with ATS-34 steel. The body is closed and prevents a lot of the crud.

So how's the Sirus working out??

Considering a Benchmade 211(not sure--never handled one)---Becker Necker(the plain handle seems to be a drawback in a way)---Spyderco Vagabond(looks flimsy in the pics) or a Bark River Mountaineer(heavy) right now.

Might consider the Sirus if the reviews are good----never really paid attention to this model till now.

Have a Rush too---but its too small for my tastes.

It looks to me like the tempest and sirus are the same knife, the sirus just doesnt have the handle "lightening holes" cut in it? I like them all! Great knives.

I like them both too... never had a problem with the handle getting crudded up.
And I consider that the holes make it easier to clean out.

I would go with the Tempest with the ATS34.

I'm not sure if this is true of the Tempest, but one thing I like about the Sirus is that the clip is mounted for knife tip up storage. This makes for a much quicker release from your pocket. The ATS-34 steel is good and the knife is light enough where EDC is certainly an option.
