Anyone have a Burk 112 knife?

This topic was recently posted on FB by another person, so I thought I would reach out to see if others here have photos of a 112 that was released as a part of a 2/19/2020 web blast. On FB they show the tang stamp of Burk instead of Buck. I also purchased one of these knives and didn't even realize the discrepancy until I read the FB post. There were only 18 of these knives released.

Joe Houser is doing a little research on FB to find out exactly how these came into existence. If more people chime in that they also purchased this knife and can confirm the typo, that may help the research.

Here is a photo of mine and also a link to that web blast when it was released (the post on FB has a much clearer picture of the Burk stamp).

I zoomed in on your original photo you posted in that thread and one can "just" see the Burk on the blade. Barely, but it's there.

I do miss the Joe Houser web blasts. Clicking that link to the 2020 web blast brought back memories.
I agree!
I've really been hoping someone would step up and continue these web blast offerings.
Tho I suspect that'll never happen.
Sigh.😞

Yeah...been straining my eyes on it too. I just sent Joe H. a copy of the original stock photo. He is researching it.

3 "Burk" 112 knives confirmed so far, which means all 18 should be the same.

Joe is trying to figure out how this happened. He showed a picture of the 3 dies they use to stamp those and none of them have Burk.

Wow, that’s a strange development. I was guessing it was an incorrect die, I’m surprised it’s something else.

I had one and let it go at the start of Covid-19..I pulled up the one decent pictures I took of it and mine did say Buck..My guess is the blade or the stamp was slightly out of wack or angled when it was stamped. I don't think it's the wrong letter but I just don't know.

Joe H. has seen pictures from 4 of the knives now and confirmed it is "r". He is trying to find out how it happened.

Here is one of the pictures that clearly shows the discrepancy under heavy lighting. You can see where the "r" is terminated at the bottom.

We're they solid dies, or did they have replaceable carbide inserts for the characters? Someone could have installed the correct character after the goof was noticed. Same with a solid die, you could restamp a c over that r and it may look pretty good. Or weld, buff, stamp if they had time...
My guess is shop shenanigans.

The ones that were pictured were solid dies.

I'm wrong about the stamping. This kind of die has the characters protruding from the die face. They probably have to be milled in and then hardened. Much more difficult to futz with. Interesting situation...
