Hi there, just trying to get an opinion and reviews of the G-10 trapperlock by case. Fit and finish, lock up etc...etc..! Thanks!

Well, between the G10, the clip, and the thumb stud, it's hard to classify a Case Trapperlock with G10 covers as "Traditional".

Moving to General.

I just picked up the red jigged bone version from a member here, and if it's any indication you shouldn't be disappointed. I've handled 3 trapperlocks now and own 1 (intend to buy at least 1 more) and every one has been different in the way it opened. I can shake mine into open position. One I handled before I bought this one was easy opening, and the other was a little stiffer, but still smooth. I will tell you right now: not one of them is fit for hard use. The liner lock is thin and easily flexed with some pressure, it's mostly just to ensure that the blade doesn't close if you torque it the wrong way while you're cutting.
The fit and finish on the ones I've seen has been largely good. I've heard some stories floating around about Case's QC, but I've not seen anything too terrible from them yet.

Mine has no air to be seen through the handle anywhere, but it does have some wiggle in the lock up, side to side and front to back, but it's nothing to write home about. It's my new edc, if that tells you anything, which it doesn't, except that it's a knife....

Anyway, check it out and post your findings here. I'd like to hear some others' experiences. I love this knife, and I hope Case makes some more variations on it, and improves it as they go. Mine is a first production run, so they may have already done some upgrades from my model, but none that I've been able to notice from the ones I handled previously. It's a mixed-bag knife in my truthful and honest opinion, but I favor it.

Hope the rambling helped. -G

Addendum:

Just took her outside and carved all the bark off of a pecan branch and got one small area (0.5 mm) of rolled steel on the belly of the blade about 5/6 of the way up from the handle. I torqued it sideways a few times to break the bark loose and got one lock failure, probably due to hand pressure on the liner. No bends or anything, but I wouldn't do much besides light, controlled tasks with this one. Cardboard, packages, letter-opening, meticulous whittling or detail work and the like, although I'm admittedly skeptical of its capacity to do said detailed work due to the mild blade play--might get frustrating for a serious woodworker. In other words: it's an edc blade if what you do every day isn't too stressful on your knife (most people). With lots of points for prettiness and the bonus ability to be a one or two use shiv should you need it to flex into that kind of job (someone's eye). Cheers!

Update:

I've retired this knife from pocket carry after only a few days. too much blade play. It rattles when I shake it. I was excited enough at first that I could overlook it, but the glamour wore off, and now I'm kind of disenchanted. :(

Thanks for posting your findings inspectre I wanted to pick one up but it seems like Case has failed in this design.
