I bought one last month, but I returned it because the tip was rounded off and quite blunt. I'm curious as to whether I got a dud or if the Safe Keeper II just has less of a tip than other knives (though I don't see why it should).

Anyway, can anyone who owns one comment on how sharp the tip is on yours? I kind of want to try buying another but I don't want to get it if it will still have a blunt tip.

I have a SafeMaker II and the point is very sharp. I have been contemplating selling it as it sits in the safe and never sees any use.

I have one of the Safe Keeper II knife I bought from from CS several years ago, and it definetly has a nice point on it. Like most push-daggers, the Safe Keeper is primarily a thrusting weapon, so a blunt point would tend to defeat the whole purpose of the design if it has a blunt or rounded tip.

If your's didn't, I would expect it was either broken or mis-sharpened.

i have one too, also bought a few years ago , with 420 "sub zero quenched" steel, and is very pointy , so i guess you got a bad one

Ive got a safe maker II recently and its one of the sharpest knives I've ever owned with a nasty wicked point.

Must have been a dud.

I wouldn't doubt if some one had been playing around with yours before you bought it. If you pay attention you will see over the years a ton of people have had used knives sold to them as brand new over the internet, even from reputable dealers.

I have oone of the very first ones and it came very sharp and has been a great blade. Must have gotten a dud!

I have 4 safe keeper 2's, 2 safe keeper 1's (my most prized knife possions), 2 safe maker 1's and all of them have very sharp and pointy tips.
