This is a knife I always meant to buy in Carbon V, but not that's gone forever and the OSS, made from 4116 Krupp, is available on Ebay for about $33. Based on what I've read about this steel on the forums here, I take it that 4116 K is a very tough, corrosion-resistent steel that measures 55-57 Rc.

Does anyone have one of these knives? It's clearly more of a weapon than anything else, but I don't hear much about it. According to CS, the 4116 is better in edge retention than 420, yet less expensive.

Thanks!

Nope,I have 3, stainless,Carbon V,and a 4116 Krupp. I just got the 4116,and havent tried it on any thing yet,but it sure is purtty. But I do have an ODA in 4116 Krupp, and that is holding up real well. I got mine from www.gpknives.com

I have four of the CS 4116 Krupp knives. They are darn sure worth the money. I put the Canadian Belt Knife in that steel to a good test for deer season. I like it a lot. I like a lot of knife for the money and this is one of them.

So far so good. Anyone put the 4116 Krupp stainless to rigorous use? One thing I hate about the Secure-Ex sheaths is that they mar the blade where it locks. Not a big deal on non-coated knives, but it wears the teflon down with repeated drawing.

You understand the knife has no real guard or subhilt, right? It's all just molded rubber (Kraton).

I bought the krupp oss a couple weeks ago. The fit and finish was not quite as good as the camillus made carbon v models, but then again it costs only about 2/3 of what they did. From my limited experience with different steels, I would say that it holds an edge adaquetly, especially for the price. It can get very sharp. I have flexed it a bit to see if there were any vital flaws in the blade.

I own the ODA model as well, and even though the oda is in fact slightly lighter, the oss feels lighter. It is the most perfectly balanced design I have ever felt(but I havent felt many) , with the balance point exactly on the middle of the double guard. it is fully sharpened on both sides, and has a slight hollow grind. One thing that dissapointed me was the fact that the edge was not the beautiful mirror polished edge that the camillus models came with. The point is thin, but not fragile.

The guard and subhilt serve their main purpose well (keeping the hand securely on the handle) and I doubt you could just chop right through it in one cut. The kraton is very stiff. After some very forcefull stabbing into a thick arrow target (hehehe...), the handle-tang connection has developed some very minor play around the lanyard hole, which has happened on many of my kraton handled knives.

The sheath is made of kydex, but called "secure-ex'. It fits the knife well, and has studs that clamp the knife in when inserted. The only thing I didnt like about it is the snap on the upper strap was very hard to close on the handle. I just moved the position of the belt attatchment 1 hole down, and it fits very well now.

For the price of about 35 dollars, It was a bargain IMHO.
