My wife ordered a Fallkniven A1 for my Christmas present.

Does anyone have one? Do you like the knife? It will be coming with the plastic sheath. Should I consider buying the leather sheath?

I don't have one and I do want one. I haven't read one bad review of it. everyone seems to love theirs. Great choice and welcome to the forums:).

Congratulations! The A1 very nicely made and beefy. It has a nice grippy, hand filling handle.

I've toyed with the idea of grinding a low chiol about three quarters of an inch long in one of my A1s. But, haven't done it yet. I liike the A1.

I've not tried their leather sheath. Between their hard plastic sheath and their Kydex sheath, I prefer the Kydex. However, the hard plastic one works. It holds the knife.

I had both with the plastic sheath and the older one with the soft sheath. I do not know about the leather sheath. I'd say for carrying alot, stick with plastic.

I love mine. I can't speak to the plastic sheath, but I have the leather one and it is good enough for me.

Thanks for the quick replys. I am hoping that the A1 will be a good all around outdoor knife. I often trek into the outdoors alone, and want to be prepared in case my GPS and map skills fail me etc. Sounds like the A1 will be more than enough.

The A1 sounds perfect for your needs. I cant think of a better all around knife. I have an A1 with the Zytel sheath which is very functional, however I have it in a Spec Ops nylon sheath which can be had for about $34, and has a pouch which would fit a small folder , leatherman, or what have you.

Do a search, and read up and learn how to maintain a convex edge and using some simple, easy techniques, you can keep your A1 razor sharp.

Thanks. Will do. I like the idea of the Spec Ops sheath with pouch.

I have 2 of the older A-1's with the soft sheath. I love mine. There's nothing like having the right tool for the job.

I have an older A-1 in VG-10 with a kydex sheath. Just an amazing knive to go into the field with. Its got the mass and geometry to handle a wide range of tasks.

Great choice, enjoy it.

I wish I had a wife that'd buy me an A1 for christmas.:D(I need a wife first):D
Seriously though,Fallkniven are one of the best reviewed knife brands I've seen on here.I personally carry an S1.It's a supurb knife and I won't go into the woods without it.

You can't go wrong with an A1. It's a fantastic cutter. A great chopper for it's size. It's very tough and strong. It is very easy to sharpen.

I'm not fond of the plastic sheath but there are many nice after market sheaths available and giving it's size and simple shape it is easy to find a nice sheath that will accommodate it.

Your videos were one of the main reasons that I asked my wife for the A1 knife in the first place. The laminated blade strength and Stain resistance seem to be a perfect match for me.

Thanks for the great videos.

Got 6 of 'em, cant say enough good stuff about them. gave one to noss after he destroyed his in the destruction video. Check out knifetests.com, it's a definite proof that your wife made a good choice.
