Im just curious, we are looking at this appx size bandsaws right now..Id love to find a nice Johnson, ellis etc locally used but most machine shops etc in this area have choked out with the coal industry..Been looking for some time with no luck..You know you can only wait so long..The Griz is on sale right now. I have not read and bad things about this particular model saw of thiers but I thought Id ask..Also if you have any comments about Grizzly saws in general feel free to add them..Thanks

Have you looked an enco?mmthey have many many metal saws. Regular 20% of and free shipping. Work a,look for, sure.

Been searching CL long and hard, eh? Even out here where there is little manufacturing I was able to get a 7x12" Rockwell after looking for a while...
Have you asked any local job machine shops if they know about used saws anywhere? I've had good luck doing that. Got my mill and vertical bandsaw that way.
I only ask since I am biased towards older American tools. I worked in a shop with a newer Grizzly saw for a while, it was OK but the coolant system was kind of rinky-dink.

What about these?

We have a Carolina saw where I'm working fabricating right now, it's a functional saw. Not great, but the motor is the weak part. The one I linked to there appears to have a much better motor than ours does...

Also, I don't know if you are in the market, but I have one of these and love it, couldn't help but notice there's one for sale nearish to you. (Don't know exactly where in Eastern KY you actually live.)

I saw all those Salem(the Powermatic wont help its a vertical), Im sort of on a budget. We're trying to stick to $1000 and under. The griz is on sale for $895 shipped right now. We only have a few machine shops left "locally"now..since the "War on coal" just about all manufacturing shops that relied on coal(around here almost all of them)have gone..Ive asked a couple of them and they have nothing for sale..Ive got one more Im asking this week. Thanks for taking the time too look though..

Budget! Yep, I know about that. I wondered which 7x12 Grizzly you were looking at, the spendy or cheaper one...
Should'a known you were mighty thorough in your search.
The Powermatic got mentioned just 'cause, well, it's awesome and I love mine. Beats the HECK out of a portaband!
