I heard that this knife was the prototype or something like that for the Commander. Does anyone have a picture or it or a link to a picture of it? What about the ES1-C ("civilian" version)? Does anyone sell them?

IIRC they look exactly like a large version of the commander, IIRC aslo was the first waved emerson, no pics though, have never seen one for sale, good luck!

but point being unless the pic was labled ya wouldnt know it wasnt a commander,

I have a pic bit I can't post it. Email me if you would like it.

The only real difference you will see in a pic is that an ESM-1 has Emerson's custom logo.

ES1-M is basically a Super Commander. M stands for Military. I believe the ES stands for Emerson SEAL. Up to like 2002/2003 Mr. Emerson had ES1-Ms for sale at some of his custom lotteries.

ES1-C is a the same as a ES1-M, except it doesn't have Wave. C stands for Civilian. ES1-C is RARE. Much more rare then the ES1-M.

Originally Wave was only going to be for LEO/Military/etc.

and originally it was a blade 'catch' or 'hook' (for hooking your opponents blade)and someone figured out how to wave it open, and the rest is history................

IIRC most if not all of them had zero bevel grind blades too,so diff from a commander in that regard also

Here's mine. Sorry I didn't see this earlier.

Wow - that's pretty sick looking. How long is the blade? Is it chisel edged? Is the top edge sharpened?

Thanks.
