Anyone have a Ruger 77/44?

I got one to suppress. For a general plinker they are a lot of fun.

For defensive use, I'll take my Marlin lever gun in 44 Magnum.

How successfully were you able to suppress it? I like the idea. Sort of a pumped DeLisle.

Once I get moved in to a new house, I'm sending it off to S&H. If you avoid sonic crack, they are muted (like a deep puff from a pellet rifle). None of the suppressed firearms are "Hollywood" quiet but, a good can really deadens the gun shot noise (good ones let you hear the gun parts work. ;)

Yeah, I like a slow/heavy round for suppression for just that reason (re: sonic crack). Pics when you get your project completed! :)

While not the best way to hear it, this should give you some idea. Wish the ATF was a little more efficient. ;)

My dad bought one some years back. Once we bedded the action it grouped great. IIRC, it has a faster twist than my Marlin and handles heavier bullets better. He shoots a 310 grain cast bullet in it.

Pretty sure I couldn't get that in CA...

Contrary to popular belief, silencers are and always have been legal to own under federal law. At this time, the following states allow private ownership of silencers: AL, AR, AK, AZ, CO, CT, FL, GA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MD, MS, MT, ND, NE, NV, NH, NM, NC, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, WV, and WY. Of the fourteen states that do not allow civilian ownership, CA, IA, MA, MO, and MI allow Class 3 dealers and Class 2 manufacturers to possess silencers.

Good and accurate info in this post......... ;)

To be honest, it's not a gun I've shot a lot. But somehow, my all-weather 77/44 is one of my favorites. They discontinued them for a little while, and prices skyrocketed. Glad to see they've brought 'em back.
