Anyone have a Scorpius?

I have become interested in this model recently and am wondering if anyone uses one as an EDC. It seems sized very well for such use and since I like SS-handled Spydies, I especially appreciate the ergonomic finger grooves to prevent any possible slipping (though to date one of my all-time fave knives is still the SS Police).

If I do get one, I'm having trouble deciding on a PE or SE version, anyone have an opinion?
Thanx,
Jim

check the passaround forum for info on this knife. I guess whether to get serrated depends on whether you will be cutting a lot of fibrous materials.

I just received the scorpius back, so check out the passaround forum in a few days.

The postman delivered my Scorpius today. I have to say this is one well thought out design. Once you get past the different look, the knife has some pretty outstanding qualities...

The handle is really ergonomic and allows for multiple grips which enhances leverage. The blade length seemed a bit short at first, but once you get use to how to manipulate the knife to fit the cutting purpose, the length is great.

I got the serrated version or spyderedge if you will. I feel the way the folder is designed, this blade configuration will work best for me. Even though this will be mainly a general purpose/work knife, it's kind of neat to know that it can also be used in a self defense situation.

I recommened this Spydie to anyone. Great knife!

I gave one of these to a loved one. She EDCs it and wouldn't part with it. Fully serrated model. Great cutter. A real workhorse.

Just buy it! You won't be sorry. I received on for Xmas and it is great- very strong but extremely thin. An incredible cutter!

Until recently, I have always avoided knives with metal grips because I have sweaty hands. While this is still true, I recently bought a S/S cricket and found the sweat was not such a problem. Soooo, I bought the Scorpius and absolutely love it. The action was pretty tight, but I broke that in while watching some of the Magnum marathon on tv recently.

I have the plain edge and serrated versions. I prefer the plain edge as my EDC. This is only becuase I use smaller knives for, sometimes, fine cutting. The serrated edge version will only come out for hiking, camping trips where I may have to cut rope, branches and toguher items.
The Scorpius handle is great ergonomically. I can get various comfortable grips with ease. Plus the size of the Scorpius is just small enough to keep the sheeple at bay. Hope this helps.

A review of the Scorpius (and several other Spyderco knives) will appear in the next issue of The Martialist. The shape of the handle does indeed improve grip integrity despite the smooth nature of the stainless steel.

I got a Scorpius a couple of days ago. It's really neat. The knife looks very cool and it seems to be well built.

The blade hole is pretty large and the blade grind is awesome.

The handle is a little weird. You may want to hold one before you buy. It might take awhile to get used to its ergonomics.

In all, it's an appealing knife at a low price point.

IMHO, you should buy one. The action on mine is very tight, but I am sure it will loosen with use. It was DAMN sharp out of the box!
I used mine to open Christmas presents with.
I was not paying attention, and I cut my thumb. At first, I thought it was just a little pin point prick. Man was was wrong.
I sliced almost an inch of my thumb! As with all Spyderco knives, respect the sharpness of the blade at all times!!!

Thanks for all the replies!
I think I will handle some Scorpius's again (I had previously handled one a couple months ago at a gun show) and found the handle quite comfortable. Still not certain of a PE or SE, but am kind of leaning toward the SE version.
Looks like this one is another Spydie hit!

I've had a PE Scorpius for two days now, and I'm already convinced that it is the best SS Spydie I've ever handled. I carried a CE Native II for two years, and this is my replacement. Both knives are roughly the same size and weight, but the Scorpius seems to have a better blade shape for downward slicing and it has better ergos, as others have commented on. One thing I especially love is the ultra-thin profile. It really disapears in the pocket! I switch back and forth from dress clothes to work or casual clothes throught the week, so I have a hard time choosing just one EDC, but the Scorpius has become my new "dress EDC."
